May 2007 parish and district council elections are looming, will you be brave and stand for election?
Recent figures from the Improvement and Development Agency (IDeA) show that the unequal gender balance of councillors is unchanged since 2004, 69.3 per cent of councillors are male -Â so come on girls, where are you? Its time to make our mark on local democracy!Â
The average age of councillors has also risen slightly, from 57.8 years old to 58.3, the number of councillors under the age of 25 is a staggering 0.3 per cent, and those aged between 25-39 (the age bracket I fall into) is 7.4 per cent of councillors. So your local community needs you now.Â
