Starbucks just introduced a great new spiff when you purchase a coffee in one of their stores, the "song of the day." So far, I've picked up free downloads from Bob Dylan, Keith Urban, KT Tunstall, and Joni Mitchell.
This is actually a small bit of a broader marketing partnership between Apple and Starbucks. Apple is no providing free access to the iTunes Music store (have you ever heard of a store charging for entrance?!). The cool thing about it though is that you can also see on iTunes what is playing at the moment in the store (and make your purchase for $.99).
I think its a great idea. The free songs are only available through November 7th AND you have to ask for them. They don't just give them out.
The guys at the Falls are rockin' the iPhone.

About a week ago, I mentioned that I had just gotten an 160 gig Apple TV. Today, I'll tell you why I love it.
I can go to church with Mark Driscoll, Mark Batterson, and Craig Groeschel's vidcasts in my office while I'm working without interfering with whats happening on my desktop. I'm looking for some good off the radar vidcasts as well. If you know any good ones, let me know. A pastor has to have some good church too, you know. We already started working this into our creative meetings taking content from each laptop and throwing it to the 42" LCD. My iTunes is playing at a tolerable level away from my workspace throughout the day...looking for good worship podcasts/vidcasts as well...not worship teaching but the straight worship sets. I can't wait until we can watch directly from YouTube to AppleTV. That will raise the level of our brainstorming sessions in a big way.
I was in Drew Goodmanson and Brad Abare's session at Exponential. Some of this material was presented then. Check out the powerpoint/pdf that went with the full session on internet evangelism. (source: drew goodmanson)
It won't be long and we'll be upgrading our church computers. I can't enough about Macs. I can conjure up a lot of reasons to make the change. But, I'd be a bit concerned about the learning curve and compatibility with Office docs. The new Macs and Office products alleviate some of those concerns. But, they are still there.
Admittedly, I am a sucker for good design. Mac has that in boat loads. Any advice from you tech junkies?!
Listen to Marty's interview with National Public Radio. Apparently, the Today Show will be at his church, Steven's Creek on Sunday morning. Marty handled himself very well and made a great presentation not only for Secure Give but also for Christ.

This cool cat, Marty "Big Time" Baker has gone Hollywood with a story on his giving kiosks. CBS, NBC, NPR, and the LA Times have picked up on his SecureGive gig. Great article. Great Story. The marketing of this Church technology doesn't suck! I'm sure Brad Abare would be proud.

Barbarians of the New Dark Ages is posted by Meldenius at Trespassers Will. It is the text from Dr. Matthew Melton speaking at Thursday's Lee University chapel service. I hope the audio is available soon. This is a MUST READ for every Christian that is leashed to technology.
