You can't imagine how giddy this makes me!

I was extremely honored that Ringo agreed to be my first interviewee for my Parenting with Rockstars project. I met with him backstage before his show with the 10th All Starr Band at Mohegan Sun last weekend, and we had a lovely chat about kids, when he first held his son, and growing up listening to music. He's such a sweetheart, I could have talked with him for hours, but alas, 20+ minutes with a touring Beatle is a really generous gift.

It will be a while before I edit and post the whole interview, but I couldn't resist sharing this Starr-studded introduction.

When it became clear that I needed publicity photos and an updated professional portrait, I didn't consider any other photographer than Matt Armendariz—even though it meant a flight across the country to his studio in Long Beach, CA. My friend Dana Robinson (a.k.a. Skampy) introduced me to Matt and accompanied me on the visit for moral support, entertainment, and (as it turned out) brilliant art direction.

I've put together a little slideshow with commentary of a few of my favorite shots out of the 150+ taken that day.

Color junkie that I am, I couldn't be more tickled with these NYC street vendor finds. The first batch was 4-for-$10; the second batch (with two holes), three bucks each. Now, thank goodness, I have just the right belt for every outfit. For a while, I was all about the powder blue, but these days, it's silver all the way.
