6 Weeks Along and Already Getting a Belly?

Yes, I know this is just pregnancy bloating, not real baby growth, but this always happens! I generally start “showing” between 6 and 8 weeks. So much for even attempting to “hide” the pregnancy for awhile.

I have gained 4 pounds already, and my size 6 waistline, which was loose two weeks ago, is now extremely tight and uncomfortable, with the waistline cutting in. I guess it’s time for maternity clothes shopping (yes, I got rid of almost everything).

Rob finds this rapid belly growth much more humorous than I do. His take on it, “Your body’s been there so many times that it’s saying, ‘Hey, I know what to do’ - then POOF!”

As for food, morning sickness has kicked in full-force on some days, while on other days I feel fine. This is bizarre for me. In the past I have either had morning sickness (and in some cases, all-day sickness), or I haven’t. I have never only had it on some days. Yesterday was BAD. I couldn’t even handle the thought of eating anything. Blech! Finally at about 3pm, I knew I had to eat something. The only thing that sounded semi-appetizing was something salty — very salty. Potato chips sounded good. Salty dill pickles sounded good. I ended up settling for salted corn-on-the-cob and salted watermelon.

Today my tummy has felt much better so I have been able to keep down a Zip-fizz (the closest thing to prenatal vitamins that I can currently stomach), half a burrito, and a piece of cheese.

Exercise - none
Water intake - fair (approx. 50 oz. per day)
Vitamins - none
Supplements - none
Weight - 126.5 (+ 4 lbs. this week, 4 lbs total gain)

LOL about Rob’s comment! POOF! I can only imagine. I thought it was bad enough with my third when my clothes starting getting tight oh… the week right after conception. But at least you can quickly get through the “I just look fat, not prego” stage, right?
