Moving Blogs Between Accounts

Okay guys and gals...Blogger has finally made it possible for you to really screw up your Googly life...LOL...just kidding!

They have finally made it possible to move blogs...at will..between accounts. Now I'm not going to create more accounts to give you a show and tell but my Blog*Star buddy Chuck has a post with a lot of pictures!!

The steps are relatively easy!

First...with Google, set up the second account where you want to transfer the blog.

1.) From your Dashboard, go to Settings, then to the far right tab called Permissions.

2.) As the original administrator of the blog, invite the second account to be a blog member using the email address of the new account.

3.) Log into the second mail account and accept the invitation.

4.) As the original Administrator, make sure both accounts are "Administrators"...just click on the button that says guest and it will change to Administrator.

5.) Click "Remove" for the account that you want to delete. The account that is left is now the administrator.

6.) Log in with the new account and the blog will be on your Dashboard with full administrative access. Voila!

Today i mailed him, stating it is possible..

Well that sounds like a handy feature to have! I guess if you were handing a blog over to someone else this would make it easier too.

Bonnie -- your blog came up when I searched for help. Maybe you can tell me this. Some blogs (on wordpress or blogger) ask for both a blogger id and a password to allow a comment to be posted. I have never had a comment accepted when I tried to do this using my gmail ID and pw or my blogger ID and gmail pw (which is what gets me into my own blog). Do you know what it's looking for? Before I moved up to current blogger, I had my blogger id, but I thought I used the same pw. IF that's what it wants, I don't know what that pw is.

Hi Mae,

On Blogger or Wordpress the ID and PW would be the ones that you use on that particular platform. On any Blogger account, the ID and PW are the same ones that you used to leave a comment on my blog.

Or you can always choose "Other" on the comment login part and fill in the required info!

I'm not sure how WordPress works!

Hi there. What if I don't have a 'permission' tab...?

Bonnie Calhoun said...

the only time you wouldn't have a permission tab is if you're not the owner of the blog, just a guest.

My issue is a little more complicated --
1. by accident I have two accounts with 2 different email addresses as administrators - both emails are mine.
2. here is what i want to do
a. inspiration by design ( Account A) is the name I want to use for my account weallneedalittleinspiration
[Account B)
b. I have been posting to account B not relizing that account A is set up and that is the name I really want -- and I want it without all that blog stuff in the title -- just like I did for weallneedalittleinspiration -- is this possible?
here is my email address stopandsmile@mac.com
please help

Bonnie Calhoun said...

I'm not understanding what you are talking about "accounts" without "all that blog stuff in the title".

To start with "accounts" do not have names. Blogs habe URL's, but they all have blogspot at the end of them.

Please explain further.

Diane said...

sorry -- i meant url's not account
but i was able to change my blog's url to a name with not blogspot at the end

Bonnie Calhoun said...

That's not possible...either it is not a Blogger blog, or you've bought it as a domain name.

Diane said...

go to www.weallneedalittleinspiration.com
it is still a blog - i use all the bloger services
so is my other blog
www.styleinthestreets.com

Bonnie Calhoun said...

LOL...like I said...you bought them as domain names. The most you could do is copy and paste the posts from the one that you don't want to use...into the one you do want to use.

Is it possible to migrate one blog into another blog when they are both registered and adminstered within the same account?

Bonnie Calhoun said...

LOL...NO IT IS NOT!!!

And if you try it you will delete one of them!

This above mentioned process is for moving blogs between ACCOUNTS!
