Thankful Thursday

Good morning everyone. I have so many things to be thankful for that I hardly know where to begin.

I'm thankful for everything that God has provided and all the gifts he has given me. I'm especially excited about my new hobby of photography.

I'm thankful that I don't have to work out of the home.

I'm thankful that I had an empty nest for about a month (see post below) but I'm also happy that our youngest is back home. She may not be in the house all the time, but she's at home.

I'm thankful our oldest and her husband have found a place to rent and all their "stuff" is gone. Although I miss our dear, sweet grand-daughter being here, I'm able to take care of her several days a week. She just keeps getting cuter!!!

Grammy's Girl

I'm thankful for my sister-in-the-Lord (also my sister-in-law) that brings so much joy to my life.

I'm thankful for all my blogging friends and "sisters" who responded to my post yesterday saying they had missed me.

I'm thankful for the beautiful weather we've had this week~almost like Fall. The morning's a cool and the days are NOT humid~which is a big problem for me.

If you'd like to share some things you are thankful for, please visit my friend, Iris. Blessings to each of you!!!

Thankful Thursday ~ New Venture

I'm thankful that I can start a new venture~a new blog.  I'm thankful God is working in my life in many areas and one of those is more of Him and less of me!  I want to share His dealings with me. I've done that here but there has also been a lot of "stuff."  Don't get me wrong, I'm not condeming "stuff."  I just want the new place to focus on Him.

Several months ago in the meme, Why I Blog, I said:

The first and foremost reason is to share my faith. If God would lead someone here, I'd want that person to know what He has done in my life. As has been said, I'm not perfect, just forgiven. I have day-to-day struggles . . . just like everyone else and God doesn't always deliver me out of my struggles but helps me through them.
I'm not sure if this is God's will right now, but if it is, He will bless others and use my humble offering to Him.

Blessings,
His Humble Servant

Thankful Thursday

"Let them also offer sacrifices of thanksgiving, And tell of His works with joyful singing." Psalm 107:22

There are so many things to be a thankful for and several of them are in my post yesterday.

Most of all, I think I'm thankful that God is in control. No matter how hard I try to make things the way I want them, He always gently reminds me that He is in control. I must be thankful that He carries the load and I don't have to.

I'm also thankful for the online Bible Study "I Am...so you don't have to be" that The Preachers Wife is leading. I had to chuckle because not too long ago an unsaved person asked, "As much as you study the Bible, don't you know it by now?" Obviously that person doesn't know the depth of God's word.

I'm thankful for the Christian blogging community and all the opportunities we have to share, encourage and pray for each other.

Are you thankful today? Please join us.

Blessings, Blessings, Blessings!

God is truly awesome! Sometimes He answers prayers right away and sometimes, we need to wait. Waiting is good.

Blessing #1: We heard from Colleen yesterday evening and she is fine. She doesn't have a job yet but is going to be looking for one today.

Blessing #2: A friend and I have been praying about a situation at her work and yesterday the Lord started moving!

Blessing #3: Rachel and Nick found a house to rent nearby and will be able to move in May 1.

Blessing #4: Rachel fixed us the most awesome dinner yesterday as a way of saying thank you.
The main course was something we had never had before~Asparagus Steak Oscar! Hubby and I are "plain" people and don't eat fancy meals as a rule, but this was DELICIOUS! We also had twice baked potatoes and a gorgeous salad. I took some pics just so you could see the results.

She also made Cream Puffs (from scratch, no less) for dessert! Yes, there are a couple missing because I was slow again taking the pics.

Blessing #5: Our granddaughter will be four months old on Sunday. She growing rapidly and is extremely curious of her surroundings. Her favorite thing is her jumper. She's very precious to us and we will miss having her around once they have moved. Here's a current picture.

Please remember to continue praying for the situation at Virginia Tech. Blessings to each of you.

Thankful Thursday

"Pray without ceasing; in everything give thanks; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus." 1 Thess. 5:17 & 18

On Monday, I posted a prayer request for our daughter. The responses I received have totally overwhelmed me. There were responses from bloggers I have followed for a long time for which I am extremely thankful. But the overwhelming part was the responses from people I never heard from before. Brothers and sisters in Christ offering prayer support, encouragement and even information on the area she will be moving to.

To each of you, I say Thank You. I have been truly humbled. Father in Heaven, I give You thanks for leading each of those individuals to my home here on the internet and rededicate Colleen into your care. Thank you Father, that you hear and answer the prayers of your children and will answer them in your way and in your time. [image]

Whaaaa Hooooo

I'm thankful today. Yea, I'm thankful all the time, but today, I found something! And I'm so excited. I get just like a little kid sometimes! I have a couple of free photo enhancing programs on my computer and I'm always exploring them to see what I can do with my pictures.

Some time back I had to get a new DVD drive and along with it, came the photo enhancing program Roxio. I used it some, but mostly used Kodak, Shutterfly or something online. Today, I ran across the extra CD that came with the Roxio program and guess what I can do... I CAN CREATE DIGITAL SCRAPBOOK PAGES!!!! Check out my first attempt.

Thankful Thursday

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. Phil. 4:6 (NASB)
I'm so very thankful for my Hubby. In May we will have been married 24 years. God brought us together and has kept us together.

Most of you know that last year my dear Hubby gave me a digital camera (my first). I've always loved taking pictures but many times never got the 35 mm film developed. What inspires my picture taking the most is God's awesome creations.
For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse. Rom. 1:20 (NIV)
My precious Hubby loves to take rides and I always make sure I have my camera when we leave. He's so good to me that as we ride and I see something I want to take a picture of, all I have to do is say stop and he does...cautiously, of course. Me, I just slam on the breaks!!!

Both my Hubby and my brother tell me I have an "eye" for pictures. I tell them, it isn't me, it's what God allows me to see.

And, I'm thankful that I have to begin getting ready for the Beth Moore Daniel Bible Study that I'm going to this morning. We've only got this week and next week and it will end. [image]

Blessings to each of you today!!! [image]

Thankful Thursday

Oh give thanks to the LORD, call upon His name; Make known His deeds among the peoples.
1 Chron. 16:8

I am so thankful for my salvation. As we approach Easter, the world becomes more aware of Christ's death on the cross. Something believers think about almost daily.
I am thankful for God's promise: " Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household." Acts 16:31
I'm thankful for God's Words to us. That we can daily read His instructions and know how He wants us to live our lives. That we can study and memorize it and keep it in our hearts.

I'm thankful for our church family. They love us with the love of Christ and are truly concerned for us. They pray with us and for us.
I'm thankful for Iris at Sting My Heart and the many other believers that leave comments of encouragement.

Thankful Thursday

I'm thankful that I am on my way out the door (I can walk) to go (I can drive) to a Beth Moore Bible Study (I'm so thankful for Beth's studies) on Daniel (thanks to a very special friend, neighbor and co-blogger). This has been such an awesome study and in the next few days, I want to share something I read this morning doing my last minute homework!

That Day!

That day was Saturday. We made it through by the grace of God. We didn't anticipat anything eventful but that was the kind of day it turned into.

Hubby had to cut wood for the woodstove-our sole source of heat so he headed out about Noon. He cuts the wood on his brother's land about half-hour away and always takes our dog, Naomi, along so she get get some exercise. About 3:30 he called and said he'd lost the truck keys in the woods and I needed to bring my set to him. Rachel and Nick were taking Ashlynn (in our car) to get her picture taken (as if we don't take enough) so I had to use Nick's small car to go out there. The ground in the woods was wet from the recent ice storm and I did quite a bit of sliding.

When I got there, Hubby was not where he said he would meet me~PANIC set in. But he showed up momentarily and I was fine. But he wasn't. He had gotten a tree stuck in other trees and hurt his leg trying to get it out. Then he told me he had accidentally run over Naomi's tail. She had walked in front of him while he was moving the truck and he didn't see her.

Later that evening, we were all in the living room and our little toddler, Ashlynn, headed toward the kitchen. She tripped and fell...into the woodstove. We had raised both of our girls around a woodstove and neither had gotten hurt. It was one of those things that just happened so quick. In fact, Hubby hurt his shoulder lunging for her. She only burned one hand a little but to her dad and grandpa took her to the E.R. where they gave her Tylenol with codeine. She slept the rest of the night. Needless to say, I prayed hard. This morning she was fine.

So, now it's time for Unconscious Mutterings.

I say ... and you think ... ?

Soldier :: Army
Lipton :: Tea
Reason :: Think through
Terms :: Cash only
Positive :: Attitude
Example :: Shining
Legacy :: Gift
Solo :: Solitary
Instrument :: Piano
Later :: Tomorrow
So, how was your weekend????

Thankful Thursday

Many years ago when I first became a Christian, a very dear friend told me that she was thankful she could go to the bathroom. This week I want to share my thanks for my five senses...and several other things.

Taste: Psm. 34:8 - "O taste and see that the LORD is good;
How blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him!" God has provided a bounty of food for us to taste.

Sight: 2 Cor. 5:7 - "for we walk by faith, not by sight--"
and Matt. 5:8 - "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God" and by the blood of Jesus, my Lord and Savior, I am made pure in heart! Although I wear glasses, I so thankful for my eyes.

Smell: Gen. 27:27 - in reference to Jacob stealing Esau's blessing, Isaac says - "...is like the smell of a field which the LORD has blessed;" With Spring approaching, we'll soon be able to smell God's creations

Hear: Matt. 10:27 - "What I tell you in the darkness, speak in the light; and what you hear whispered in your ear, proclaim upon the housetops." Whispered in your ear...I can hear God's whisper!!! And I can hear our granddaughter when she's unhappy.
John 8:47 - "He who is of God hears the words of God..."

Feel/Touch: Mark 10:13 - "And they were bringing children to Him so that He might touch them;"
1 John 5:18 (Amplified) - "We know [absolutely] that anyone born of God does not [deliberately and knowingly] practice committing sin, but the One Who was begotten of God carefully watches over and protects him [Christ's divine presence within him preserves him against the evil], and the wicked one does not lay hold (get a grip) on him or touch [him]." WOW! To hold my husband tight and feel his arms around me is such a huge blessing!

I'm also thankful for BibleGateway for offering a Bible reference toolbar I could install on my browser. Although I have several Bibles on my desk, it's so easy just to go up to the toolbar and type in a word or scripture reference, and ... there it is!

Again, I'm thankful to Christine for my new blog look.

Have a blessed day!

Thankful Thursday

Many of you know that I'm a new Grammy (see the ticker above). Although it's been difficult having our two grown daughters, son-in-law and new grandbaby living with us in our small home, I'm so thankful to have our little one with us. It brings me so much joy to watch her grow and change on a daily basis. Every time I look at her, God just fills my heart to overflowing with love. I'm so thankful God brought her into my life and home.

So being the proud Grammy that I am, I'm sharing more pictures of her.

Thankful Thursday

I am thankful for God's Holy Spirit given to us upon our rebirth!

So many times in my Christian walk, I've felt like I wasn't a Christian. That because I didn't feel very spiritual or happy, it must not be true. Yesterday I read a devotional by Charles Stanley and in it he said:

There are certain important points to understand about joy. This gift to every believer in Christ has a spiritual source — the Holy Spirit — and is produced from within by Him. Being supernatural in nature, divine joy exists independently of our circumstances. Happiness, on the other hand, comes from external causes, is earthly in character, and increases or decreases as events change. The success of a sports team, recognition by others, or completion of a project all represent sources of earthly happiness.
Notice the words "independently of our circumstances." That's been a hard one for me to learn. I know this, but the enemy wants me to forget. I'm so thankful that our Father has given us His Spirit and I don't have to feel happy or joyful all the time. I can have joy even when I'm sad.

Thankful Thursday

Time for Thankful Thursday. I must confess, I'm mentally battling whether to do this post or not. Yes, I have soooooooooo many things to be thankful for but I've gotten frustrated already this morning.

Blogger has been giving me error messages for just about everything I've tried to do. I have two blogs and whenever I've tried to go to either, I get an error message; or look at comments, I get the same error message! I haven't done anything to my templates (for a change) since the last time I got on so I don't know what the problem is.

Now, that being said, I do have much to be thankful for. I will not give in to the temptation to forgo this post!!! I'm thankful...

that Blogger is FREE and I can have two blogs (or as many as I want);
that I have the freedom in this country to express my faith;
for the unending, unconditional love of God for ME (even when I'm frustrated);
for the friends I've made in the blog world;
for our church and a pastor who takes a stand for God's Word and does not waiver!
that Jesus took my sins to the cross (past, present and future) and left them there so I can spend eternity in Heaven!
Today I feel: [image]

UPDATE: I just read my devotion for this morning and the scripture was to Phillipians 4.

4 Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice! 5 Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand. 6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. 8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy--meditate on these things.

OK Lord, I hear you.

Thankful Thursday

"It is good to give thanks to the Lord, and to sing praises to Thy name, O Most High." Psm. 92:1
Today, I want to share my thankfulness for my Hubby. We've been married 23.8 yrs. and I love him more today than ever! Reasons I'm thankful...
He loves the Lord and seeks to do God's will always. He loves me unconditionally even when I frustrate him. He loves our children unconditionally. He's crazy about our granddaughter.
He helps me around the house even when I've been procrastinating. He can fix almost anything that gets broken ~ but he doesn't like plumbing! He cuts wood and hauls it home for the woodstove ~ our sole source of heat. He works hard at his job to provide for his family. He always asks me what I want to do when we have time to spend together. He doesn't mind going shopping :0)) He always asks me if I want to go along on his errands, even if he's going to haul away the trash. HE NEVER COMPLAINS!!!!
What are you thankful for?

Thankful Thursday

Rejoice always; pray without ceasing; in everything give thanks; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus. 1 Thes. 5:16-18

I'm thankful to Iris for taking over Thankful Thursday. The reason being that I had stopped participating and because she contacted me personally and asked if I wanted to continue, I'm back.
I'm thankful for the awesome response to For Kelli.
I'm thankful that BooMama followed the leading of the Holy Spirit and took it upon herself to help Kelli.
I'm thankful that I started the Daniel Bible study by Beth Moore. This study will stretch you.
I'm thankful to be a Grammy! =)
I'm thankful that my friend and neighbor, Lazy Daisy (who is about the be a grandmother...ooops, I mean DIVA), introduced me to blogging because I've "met" so many wonderful believers.
Although listed last, it's first in my heart...I'm thankful that my Heavenly Father loves me so much that He sent His only son, Jesus, to die on the cross for my sins so that I might spend eternity with Him!

What are you thankful for?
