Axe "Dark Temptation" -- totally racist its just dumb.

I'm not usually one for finding racist stuff anywhere, but this is just so stupid. Axe is so incredibly juvenile in their ads that I honestly believe the morons at their agency probably did turn a white guy into a giant chocolate man and not see anything particularly offensive about it. "No, no! Its not black-face! Its chocolate-face!"

See for yourself.

Bush's Rarely Talked about Success in Africa

One thing that I will never forgive my country for is the demonization of George W. Bush. I'll admit that he has made mistakes, but I believe that many, if not all of those mistakes stem from the fact that he thinks from the heart more often than he thinks from the head. Here's an excerpt from an important article in the Boston Globe, "Bush's enduring legacy in Africa"
The Bush administration doubled foreign aid worldwide over the past eight years, the largest increase since the Truman administration, and used it to encourage poor countries to undertake political and economic reform. Total US government development aid to Africa alone has quadrupled from $1.3 billion in 2001 to more than $5 billion in 2008, and is scheduled to go to $8.7 billion in 2010, principally for education (primary school enrollment in Africa is up 36 percent since 1999), healthcare, building civil society, and protecting fragile environments.

These are not the kind of numbers that lend themselves well to the traditions of spend-less conservatism. Bush has gotten into trouble for keeping taxes low while increasing spending. That's another problem that comes from his head-heart conundrum. He really believes that lower taxes help lower-class folks, and but also doesn't want to hurt Africans by neglecting them.

I think history will prove Bush to be a great humanitarian and I believe that after his time is up in office he will shy away from the spotlight and continue to help Africa. He won't care if the media mentions his efforts, because he's never cared what they thought about him while he's in office. If he was going to let public opinion affect his decisions, this country would be dramatically different.

Pat Sajak on Rugrats

Yeah, this is kind of a weird topic for a post, but I felt like it anyway. One of the earliest memories I have as a kid is Pat Sajak and his humongous face on an episode of Rugrats, one of the classic cartoons that made Nickelodeon a really great channel for a while. So yeah, here's a picture I found of him. Its the best I could find.

Oh, and if you feel like having a flood of memories that can't be defined or pinpointed come rushing back, check out the site I found it at. Labeled as "The best French Rugrats site," I would guess it hasn't been updated this decade.

Stuff White People Like (SWPL)

At first I was skeptical of this site, but lately it has become more and more obvious that it has taken a turn to the right. This is excellent, mostly because I get a laugh out of all of the liberals who probably started reading it thinking it was light-hearted satire, but then ended up with scathing criticism. Here's a quote from one of the SWPL contest winners, who's article was titled "Comparing People to Hitler":

It’s also critical that you avoid the fatal mistake of getting creative and comparing people you don’t like to other evil dictators, such as Joseph Stalin or Fidel Castro. With few exceptions, white people are actually fond of almost any dictator not named Hitler, and your remark that “this is just like something Mao Zedong would do” will be met with blank stares and possible social alienation. This is because, with the exception of Hitler, oppressive dictators share a passion for many of the things white people love- such as universal health care, conspiracy theories, caring about poor people while being filthy rich, and cool hats.

Beautiful stuff.

Idiot Peanut Farmer

I just heard a description of Jimmy Carter that, although I have heard it before, just made me laugh this time: idiot peanut farmer.

Speaking of Bitter...

Obama talks about lost jobs and bitterness, but the Dems still seem pretty bitter about a different kind of loss. This doesn't even qualify as conspiratorial in my book since the mainstream of the left has gone so far left its just ridiculous.

SKYY Vodka

Hah! I just had a few things to say about SKYY's hilarious ad in response to Absolut's idiotic ad campaign. Here's the response:
SKYY® Vodka, Made in the USA, Proudly Supports Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo

America’s Most-Popular Domestic Vodka Decries Absolut® Vodka’s Suggestion to Redraw North American Map

SAN FRANCISCO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–In 1848, the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo officially ended the Mexican-America War (1846-1848). With the signing of this treaty, the United States gained control of what was to become the Golden West, including California, Arizona, Utah, Nevada and parts of Colorado and New Mexico. Today, SKYY® Vodka, the number-one vodka produced in the United States, spoke out against suggestions by Absolut® Vodka to disregard that treaty, as well as the joining of Texas to the Union in 1845, as depicted in Absolut’s recent advertising.

“Like SKYY Vodka, the residents of states like California, Texas and Arizona are exceptionally proud of the fact that they are from the United States of America,” said Dave Karraker, SKYY Vodka. “To imply that they might be interested in changing their mailing addresses, as our competitor seems to be suggesting in their advertising, is a bit presumptuous.”

In the ad, an “Absolut World” is depicted where the map of North America is re-drawn with Mexico claiming much of the Western United States, negating the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, as well as the Gadsden Purchase (1853), and the independence of Texas (1836).

“Don’t get me started on the Gadsden Purchase,” continues Karraker. “I think the folks in Tucson and Yuma would be rubbed the wrong way if they hear this landmark deal was somehow nullified as suggested by Absolut, a Swedish-owned brand.”

SKYY Vodka was founded in San Francisco in 1992 and continues to be produced in the United States. Premium SKYY Vodka is made from American grain carefully selected from the Midwest and 100% pure filtered water. SKYY’s proprietary four-column distillation and three-step filtration process consistently ensures exceptional quality. SKYY Vodka products include luxury SKYY90® and new SKYY Infusions™, a unique, all-natural infused experience made with premium SKYY Vodka and succulent real fruit.

This is so clever and hilarious, I would've though they hired someone from The Onion to write it. Well done, SKYY.

I think Bush is just the tops!

Here's his weekly radio address. I can understand how some people could be annoyed by how frequently he uses words like freedom, democracy, liberty, etc., but I think it is so awesome. This could stem from the fact that Bush was the first president I ever really knew, and since I was a fan of America to begin with, I just naturally love the man. He's like a grandfather to me. LOL.

THE PRESIDENT: Good morning. I'm speaking to you from Europe, where I attended the NATO summit and witnessed the hopeful progress of the continent's youngest democracies.

The summit was held in Romania, one of the 10 liberated nations that have joined the ranks of NATO since the end of the Cold War. After decades of tyranny and oppression [ed note: BOOOO!], today Romania is an important member of an international alliance dedicated to liberty, and it is setting a bold example for other former communist [ed note: HISSSSS] nations that desire to live in peace and freedom.

One of those nations is Croatia, which I'm also visiting on my trip. Croatia is a very different place than it was just a decade ago. Since they attained their independence, the Croatian people have shown the world the potential of human freedom. They've overcome war and hardship to build peaceful relations with their neighbors, and they have built a maturing democracy on the rubble of a dictatorship.

This week NATO invited Croatia, as well as the nation of Albania, to join the NATO Alliance. These countries have made extraordinary progress on the road to freedom, prosperity, and peace. The invitation to join NATO represents the Alliance's confidence that they will continue to make necessary reforms and that they will become strong contributors to NATO's mission of collective defense.

I regret that NATO was not able to extend an invitation to a third nation, Macedonia, at this week's summit. Like Croatia and Albania, Macedonia has met all the criteria for NATO membership. Unfortunately, its invitation was delayed because of a dispute over its name. I made clear that the name issue should be resolved quickly, that NATO should intensify its engagement with Macedonia, and that we look forward to the day when this young democracy takes its place among the members of the NATO Alliance.

After a century when the great wars of Europe threatened destruction throughout the world, the continent has now entered into a promising new era. Less than two decades ago, Albania, Croatia, and Macedonia suffered under the yolk of communist oppression [ed note: lol yolk]. The people in these countries know what the gift of liberty means, because they know what it is like to have their liberty denied. They know the death and destruction that can be caused by the followers of radical ideologies who kill the innocent in pursuit of political power. And these lessons have led them to work alongside America in the war on terror.

Today, soldiers from Croatia, Albania, and Macedonia are serving bravely in Afghanistan, helping the Afghan people defeat terrorists and secure a future of liberty. And forces from Albania and Macedonia are also serving in Iraq, where they're helping the Iraqi people build a society that rejects terror and lives in freedom. These nations have displayed the ultimate devotion to the principle of liberty -- sacrificing to provide it for others.

Albania, Croatia, and Macedonia are not alone in discarding the change to their past and embracing the promise of freedom. Another burgeoning democracy is Ukraine. Earlier this week I traveled to Kyiv to express America's support for beginning the process of bringing both Ukraine and Georgia into NATO. In recent years, both of these nations have seen tens of thousands take to the streets to peacefully demand their God-given liberty. The people of Ukraine and Georgia are an inspiration to the world and I was pleased that this week NATO declared that Ukraine and Georgia will become members of NATO.

Nearly seven years ago I came to Europe and spoke to the students and faculty at Warsaw University in Poland. On that day I declared that all of Europe's new democracies -- from the Baltic to the Black Sea -- should have the same chance for security and freedom and the same chance to join the institutions of Europe. Seven years later we have made good progress toward fulfilling this vision, and more work remains.

In many parts of the world, freedom is still a distant aspiration -- but in the ancient cities and villages of Europe, it is at the center of a new era of hope.

Thank you for listening.

Race according to Ideology, not Color

Victor Davis Hansen has another brilliant observation concerning Reverend Wright up at his PJ Media Blog.
Rice and Thomas

I was suprised that almost no one has commented on Wright’s slurs against Justice Thomas (“Clarence Colon” ) and Secretary Rice (Con-damn-nesia”). Neither Obama nor any prominent African-American voiced outrage. Why? The two most powerful African-Amerians in public service are an apparent embarrassment to their own communities, due to their ties to conservatives. In other words, in the Ward Churchillian mode, one is not necessarily as much African-American by race as by ideology;thus a half-white Obama of African heritage, who experienced far less prejudice than the older, darker, and African-American Thomas, is the more authentic African-American because of his leftist Chicago politics and his patronage of the fiery Wright

This has real repercussions for future racial relations. Since the liberal left has been able to dictate to the African-American population that a particular leftwing philosophy is essential to one’s genuine (as opposed to false) identity.

The fact that Clarence Thomas almost certainly was subject to more prejudice during his life than Obama is of no concern to Reverend Wright. He is not speaking for the black man, he is speaking for the anti-conservative black man, i.e. himself. Any attempt by Obama to describe Wright's comments as typical black resentment are ridiculous, because there are successful blacks who have endured significantly more hardships in their lives than the Senator, yet they seemingly do not hold any of these resentments.

3.18.2008

Victor Davis Hansen has one of my favorite takes on the whole Obama-Reverend Wright situation.
All in all—a mess.

Lost in all this is that the racial healer Obama has probably done more to set back racial politics than almost any recent public figure in memory. His Rev. Wright is worse than Farrakhan whom the reverend praises.

Had a Colin Powell or Condoleezza Rice run for President, the black vote would have split 50/50, there would have been no such extremists in the closet to worry about, and race would have been irrelevant. But Obama, who talked about making race as unimportant from the very beginning, through his ties with this racist church, with his pandering to Wright, with his wife’s outbursts, and by his own words in his memoirs, has made racial identity the center of his political existence. The final irony? A Powell or Rice no doubt experienced racial prejudice far more than did the younger, bi-racial Obama who did not grow up as an African-American on the mainland.

Read the whole thing here

For Obama to declare himself the "non race" candidate is ridiculous, because everything he does is as the "black candidate." There could have been far more qualified African-Americans who would not have all the skeletons that Obama has and race simply would have been actually a non-issue because there would have been more substance to the candidate. Obama is the candidate for white Democrats to erase their "white guilt," despite the fact that all he is is the black candidate. Its reverse racism at its most hilarious.
Instead of trying to find the right candidate, whether he's (or she's) white, black, hispanic, asian, etc., they chose the black candidate and ignored all of the things that might be wrong with him, and now they are dealing with the problems of choosing a candidate based on the color of his skin, and ignoring all of the things that might be wrong with him.
And now Obama refuses to actually address Wright's statements, he refused to really condemn those statements, because he needed that hatred of the black voters of the white population of the US to become what he is now. They voted for him because he is the black candidate.

Basically, Obama has two problems and he cannot really shirk either one of them. One: He actually had no idea about what Reverend Wright said, in which case: do we really want to elect a president that ridiculously oblivious to the statements of one of his closest advisors?
Two: He knew what Wright said, and had to grin and bear it because he couldn't afford to lose his most loyal constituency. If this is the case, as I suspect it is, (after all, these statements were made and pointed out by conservative bloggers over a year ago and its just becoming news now), then he has simply been lying about his ending "politics as usual",his "hope" and "change" that he has been talking about since his candidacy basically began. Obviously, people expect politicians to lie, but for a presidential candidate to hear the kind of things that Wright said and not address them, or possibly agree with them, makes him the kind of candidate I don't believe can possibly win this election. Either he's incompetent or he's a liar and possibly really has vitriolic feelings for the white establishment in this country, and we really don't need that kind of candidate. If anything comes out of this, I hope it makes people see through the "Obamessiah" facade that his supporters stand by. With all the idiotic things his advisors and staffers have done, (eg. Staffer saying Hillary and Obama both aren't ready to answer the proverbial 3AM phone call.), I'm inclined to believe he's just imcompetent, but I'm personally fine, as a Republican, with Obama losing votes because people are scared of Wright's disgusting rhetoric. That is Obama's problem and he does have to deal with it, this is one scandal the Mainstream Media can't whitewash.
