A $5 Dinner Thanksgiving

Welcome to Thanksgiving in Erin’s kitchen. Erin blogs at $5 Dinners which is a fantastic blog filled with dinner recipes that all cost right around $5 or less. Back in mid-September, Erin shared her kitchen adventures with us all, even though she was without power throughout the week. You can read Day 1 of her week here.

I love Thanksgiving, not just for the feast, but for the spirit of gratitude that the day brings!

The first Thanksgiving feast that I prepared was for 20 people! I was a housemom in the Dominican Republic and had 10 “family members” and several more guests to feed!  I whipped up an amazing spread for everyone…all with third world country ingredients (and maybe an American can of pumpkin too!).  I was able to make all the favorites and more!

Since starting $5 Dinners, this year will be a little different from my first Thanksgiving feast in the D.R. A feast we will have…just smaller and more frugal!  My mother-in-law, and brother and sister-in-law will be joining us this year.  I am trying to keep the meal “gourmet” yet frugal!  I had my Thanksgiving menu planned at the end of October, along with the rest of my November meal plan.

I am thrilled to be making a nutritious and delicious Thanksgiving meal for my family! And the best part is…it won’t cost me an arm and a leg!  The last few weeks I have had my eye out for products I will need so I can get the best price.  Like free evaporated milk a few weeks ago!  I can only hope that the many fresh ingredients and produce that I will need for the meal will be on sale the days leading up to our feast!

Come on by $5 Dinners after Thanksgiving to see how our meal turned out!

Happy Thanksgiving, Everyone!
