StrengthsFinder 2.0 Celebrates First Anniversary With 500,000 Copies in Print

The book has been #1 on the Wall Street Journal and BusinessWeek bestseller lists

StrengthsFinder 2.0 by Tom Rath marks its first anniversary in print this month, having spent its first year on the Wall Street Journal, BusinessWeek, and USA Today bestseller lists. StrengthsFinder 2.0 has been on the Wall Street Journal and BusinessWeek lists since March 2007, landing atop both lists in the #1 spot in July and again reaching #1 on the Wall Street Journal list early this year. At the end of its first year, there are 500,000 copies in print.

In the 2001 New York Times bestseller Now, Discover Your Strengths, Gallup ignited a global conversation about the idea that success is built on identifying and developing the things you do best rather than shoring up your weaknesses. That book introduced the first version of StrengthsFinder, an online assessment that helps readers identify their top five talents and learn how to use them to their best advantage. To date, the assessment has been taken by more than 3 million people, translated into 22 languages, and used by companies in 50 different nations.

StrengthsFinder 2.0 (Gallup Press; hardcover; February 2007) updates and upgrades the assessment, making it more valuable to readers. As with the original assessment, it is available online (http://sf2.strengthsfinder.com) and can be taken with a unique code provided in each copy of the book. However, this new version offers a more in-depth and personal analysis of one's strengths. It also offers perspective on how talents can emerge in different ways for each unique individual.

"We are gratified by the success of StrengthsFinder 2.0 in its first year," says Gallup Press Executive Publisher Larry Emond. "StrengthsFinder is an import tool in creating and retaining high levels of engaged employees -- a goal of most companies today. That it has found a wider audience in the general public shows the wide appeal for each of us as individuals to find what we do best and then to do it every day at work."
