Pressure is building on Palin, and McCain has nowhere to go as she brings his campaign down from the inside (FiveThirtyEight):
It’s important to reinforce what Nate wrote Sunday night. Not gonna happen. It would be overt surrender. As most of you know, I’ve been on the road for the past three weeks, so far visiting [...]

700 Billion or more gone if we don’t act. The Democrats are ready to sit down with the Republicans and talk turkey. Our turkey:
“We now have between House and Senate Democrats an agreement on what we think should be in the bill, and we have a meeting scheduled at 10 a.m. tomorrow to meet with [...]

The 700 billion dollar bailout is generating justified rage. Will the inclusion of foreign banks in the US taxpayer funded bailout be enough to sink it?
Right now, the Republicans are taking the heat for the economy. If the Democrats pass this bill, that is going to change quickly.
Johnathan Schwarz:
Write and call your representative and senators [...]

The Confluence has become a hotspot for closet Republicans looking to slash Democrats from within. But their latest bit of chicanery is inexecusable. They are defending Sarah Palin!
Do you see the problem with the way the Democrats are arguing this time? Sarah Palin and her husband are NOT SCARY to swing voters. Neither is Barack Obama, Joe Biden, [...]

How desperate do you have to be when you edit your user’s comments to fraudulently make it appear they support your position? Riverdaughter has sunk to a depressing low.
My edited comment:

When you consider the risks Barack Obama is taking, just by being Black and running for President, and further by taking progressive political stands, it puts his earnestness front and center. There is a reason people feel they can trust this man.
My friend Brad, (who when pressed is full of insightful yet cuttingly cynical remarks [...]

Riverdaughter sums up the dysfunctional logic of the thwarted PUMA crowd perfectly (emphasis mine):
There will be no love train. I’m not onboard. I will never be onboard.
You didn’t listen to us during the primaries.
You didn’t listen to us during the convention.
You are going to hear from us in November.
Barack Obama will NEVER get my vote. [...]

Dear Ron:
In your letter, you said:
I’ve supported the Democrats for 40 years because the Dem party was also the democratic party. This year, those two things have diverged.
No, they haven’t. One candidate won the primary with the most votes and the most delegates. PUMA is standing against democracy in democracy’s name. Why should the majority [...]

Richard Dawkins reading his hate mail:
Check out The Daily Show’s RNC Convention Billboard.
This looks fascinating (race as a theological problem).
One rich Republican is behind most of the negative campaigning in 2004 (”Swift Boat Veterans for Truth”) and to come in 2008.
Nancy Pelosi waxes wicked awesome.
Drop in and have a read: Nezua is both auctioning a [...]

The Right Wing media loves a chance to present protesters (read “far leftists”) as the dirty unruly mob to their clean authority figures. Clucking their tongues and barely disguising the pleasure they take in their tacked on umbrage, I’m sure they’ll call the people literally marching in streets “latte-sipping liberal elites” without skipping a beat. [...]

I am hoping this is a desperate and vicious lie.  If it is, its damning proof that the puma crowd, riverdaughter in particular, will go to any length to sabotage a Democratic victory. Clinton’s response to McCain’s recent ad slamming Obama for picking Biden over Hillary could just as easily apply to them:
Kathleen Strand, a [...]

I know PUMA says they have 16 gazillion supporters, but really, if they number more than a couple thousand I’d be impressed. That hasn’t stopped McCain from attempting to divide and conquer:
John McCain’s campaign suggested Sunday that rival Barack Obama snubbed Hillary Rodham Clinton as his running mate because of her criticism during the battle [...]

I was feeling pretty luke warm about Obama’s choice of VP. Until I read August (and saw this):
I think Feministing has it right on the downside of many of his positions. Pamela has a more in-depth (and ultimately encouraging) look at more of his positions.
But I’m going to quote (and go with) a massive chunk [...]

The word of a single unamed “Democratic Official” apparently constitutes “Official” to the Associated Press. Hell, I’m game. Sure, its official.
Thank goodness he didn’t select anyone interesting controversial.
The Republicans are going to try hacking the “experience” thing to death using Biden as an in:
No sooner had word spread of his selection than McCain’s campaign unleashed [...]

Because he represents a constituency the Senator is drooling over (wikipedia):
Tim Kaine has stated he has a “faith-based opposition to abortion,”[25] but he opposes overturning Roe v. Wade. He supports restrictions on abortion, such as requiring parental consent and banning partial-birth abortions in cases where the mother’s health is not at risk.[26]
In the 2006 Senate [...]
