- Middle-aged (thank god); married (oddly enough); native New Yorker; one (thoroughly magnificent, thanks) child, She Who Must Be Obeyed, aka HM (Her Majesty). But a mere lowly end-user by profession, and a former [pretty much everything, at least in somewhat limited first-world terms]. Extravagant (mostly organic) cook, slapdash (completely organic) gardener, brain space originally assigned to names and faces piled up with the overflow from the desperately overcrowded Old Movie and Broadway Trivia section, garage space which was originally assigned to a car piled up with boxes of books. Dreadful housekeeper, indifferent dresser, takeout menu ninja and the proud owner of a major percentage of the partially finished crafts projects on the east coast of the continental United States. The handsome gentleman in the picture is Hoa Hakananai'a. He joined the collection of the British Museum in 1868. His name, which is thought to mean "stolen or hidden friend," was given to him by his previous owners when he was collected.
The McCain campaign is advertising Governor Palin's Peggy Noonan endorsement. Oddly, they tried to do it without mentioning Peggy Noonan.
Well, that was certainly something. Senator Obama answered the questions, and Senator McCain recited his talking points from the campaign (most liberal voting record? Dude. Although I liked Obama's answer - his record only looks liberal to someone who voted with Bush over 90% of the time). OK, a few things. No, Senator McCain, we're all aware that you were never Miss Congeniality.

To the sound of much noise, Lady Lynn Forester de Rothschild (a baroness, if one cares about those things - and she apparently does) announced that she's a former Hillary supporter for McCain. Because, apparently, a comfortable family, two rich husbands, and a great deal of money have taught her to recognize elitists when they don't appear in reflective surfaces.

The McCain campaign has been pushing the story that he can't use the internet because his hands are disabled because of torture he suffered as a POW. He's also a master barbecue chef.
Two long-time Focus on the Family/Family Research Council associates got all the attention they expected to selling boxes of waffle mix portraying Obama as Aunt Jemima and a muslim. They also got some assistance from an unexpected quarter. Or maybe not.

Sarah Palin spent the week preparing for the ABC interview by being briefed by the McCain campaign on Sarah Palin. Perhaps Senator McCain should have sat in.
I'd love to see the end of the political uses of 9/11. It doesn't seem to be happening just yet.
Even if it's going to make life more difficult for affected states, Senator McCain is determined to turn Gustav into a campaign event. It's not the first time.
In the three years since the drowning of New Orleans, FEMA still hasn't gotten fixed. Senator McCain's great and good friend Senator Lieberman (Lieberman-CT) was supposed to do something about that, wasn't he?

John McCain is going to run an ad tonight congratulating Obama on his victory. Apparently his campaign wants as many people as possible to see him behaving graciously.
