From Digby's, the Democratic candidate is, the alpha lordlings of our press tell us, touchy
"I've never had an experience like this, with this campaign or others," Nagourney tells me. "I thought they crossed the line. If you have a problem with a story I write, call me first... But they never called. They attacked me like I'm a political opponent." [!]
and presumptuous.
Um.Â
I'm sorry, what color is that kettle? (Oh, wait...)
Whatevs. For some reason I'm reminded of this.

Aloha, Julia!
julia!
dang, i’m so old i thought hipsters were a style of slacks
Can’t spell presumptuous without U-P-T.
Julia, Suzanne, CT!
Fabulous Friday Night to you all.
hey, you
nah. Hipsters roughly equal trustafarians.
are they related to the pastafarians?
CT What do you think of this Jeremy Rabkin guy? Whoo Hoo, is he over the top or what?
yay POYKPAC! Thanks, Julia — loved it.
Just a tad! ;-)
According to Rasmussen’s numbers, less than a quarter of voters – 24 percent – now trust the press to report on the election without bias.
Hmmm… I wonder why…?
Here is the Digg! You do the shoveling and push it to the TOP! You know you can if only you try and DIGG :>)
We must be both enjoying the same kind of evening. And, we’re under the same sky full of the same stars.
According to Rasmussen’s numbers, less than a quarter of voters – 24 percent – now trust the press to report on the election without bias.
And according to reporters, only 15% of voters trust pollsters.
dugg - thanks nahant for opening it
Dugg! nahant
Heh, the sun’s still up in my neck of the woods…! ;-)
I kinda hate this. I’m a huge fan of real reporters.
The operative word being real, eh? ;-)
But, we’ll always have CSpan.
(and, don’t rub it in, pal.) And, btw, when IS that Paradise FDL meet up gonna happen?
I kinda hate this. I’m a huge fan of real reporters.
me too.
Both of them.
j/k
I’m still waiting…! ;-)
One of the reasons I enjoy watching CSPan.
Ya don’t need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows.
You know what I mean.
“like I’m a political opponentâ€
Awww. Poor Adam from the NYT.
The NYT that joined the political push for the Irak invasion/occupation.
The NYT that joined the political push for the Chicago Cult’s deregulation religion: the one that destroyed our economy.
The NYT that joined the political push for the corporatists’ globalization fetish: the one that destroyed our well-paid manufacturing jobs.
The NYT (and reporters) who made the political choice to collaborate with Bush for a year by keeping silent on his criminal wiretaps.
And now even Obama the Hamilton Project’s fluffer treats Adam and the NYT like toxic political waste.
Who could have anticipated?
Ah gawd, King is still hyping the yellowcake meme…! WTF?
He’s like, a girl beat him out for third grade president, and he’s still not over it.
who besides Charlie Savage?
King (Dickhead-Iowa) knows damned well that the ore he’s talking about was in Iraq’s stocks before the attack and occupation and the IAEA and the US knew where it was, how much of it was present, and that Iraq had exactly ZERO capacity to use it.
And wants us to close the book on the Niger connection…
who besides Charlie Savage?
crap.
ok- three.
Charlie Savage, Murray Waas, Sy Herch, Matt Taibbi.
crap.
ok - four.
Washington Post: “Whether by the end of this week he will be seen as presumptuous or overly cocky…â€
Just in case, the author guessed ahead of time that ‘presumptuous’ is missing from the wingnut word finder.
.
Yeah, I know. I could have gotten out a good two thousand words on this in less time than it took me to whittle it down to 100.
What kind of boggled me was that he expected the campaign to contact him personally and not make a statement about it. Because it’s really all about his Feelings.
I mean, a campaign, responding to an inaccurate news story. How… presumptuous.
The concern trollage from the New Republic was sort of icing on the cake.
This is so freaking exciting!!! John McCane knows how to catch Bin Laden! I am so proud of that little scamp!
And that zero capacity further debunks the pursuit of the Niger yellowcake… Teh stupid… It burns…!
Hey - I think that Boehlert fellow has pretty good taste…
dana priest
james risen
murray waas
some guy named spencer ackerman…
Jane Mayer?
Greg Palast? (:))
froomkin
Bill Moyer, Amy Goodman, Pepe Escobar, Paul Krugman, Rachel Maddow, KO…! ;-)
Jane Mayer?
crap.
Julia @35: Hey - I think that Boehlert fellow has pretty good taste…
I’m gonna be over in the corner for a little while.
crap.
just wondering who was on jay’s list. Of course your list adds to it.
I likes me some bill moyers. Commentator. Gentleman. Fair minded. Honest.
and his wife is really cool, too.
you didn’t put Rachel first? *g*
not exactly reporters in that sense of the word. Probably belong in another category. Excellent choices though.
quick - someone check to see if ct has a fever
Sy Hersh
Are you watching him right now too?
Isn’t he just wonderful?
D’oh…! Dang, I’m slipping…! ;-)
Pepe Escobar is… Tho, not in our neck of the woods…!
off to read something on actual paper for a change. Spent way too much tube time watching the kabuki in the HJC today.
Night all.
1 : to undertake without leave or clear justification : dare
2 : to expect or assume especially with confidence
3 : to suppose to be true without proof 4 : to take for granted : imply
or, in the immortal words of Richard Cohen
The evidence [Colin Powell] presented to the United Nations—some of it circumstantial, some of it absolutely bone-chilling in its detail—had to prove to anyone that Iraq not only hasn’t accounted for its weapons of mass destruction but without a doubt still retains them. Only a fool—or, possibly, a Frenchman—could conclude otherwise
Gareth Porter is another that you won’t find stateside either…!
nite, Deb.
Aloha, Rev!
For those of you who didn’t see any of this hearing this morning, get a plastic spew receptacle ready for the Louie Gohmert show. You will not believe his schtick.
g’nite revdeb
Sweet repose, RevDeb
Greg Palast? (:))
yep. I surrender.
I can barely tolerate Trent Franks spewage…! Is he a member of the next panel?
Another dog I love.
Hi Julia. My, you’re in fine form this evening. Oooh, those links above.
Let me take a minute to get my thoughts straight for my head - it doth spin.
The bs this week was a wonder to behold. I thought I was beyond being shocked
and sickened. What happened to reality? It’s comforting to know I am
not alone with my head-spin syndrome. The Lake is my balm (and dare I
wonder what next week will bring). You’ll all be here for comfort, right?
Now to read the comments. Hi all.
Hi, folks! Is it late night yet?
I’m watching a rerun of the committee hearing - came in while former Rep. Holtzman was speaking. When Steve (?) King came on, had to turn over to King ofthe Hill (there was nothing else worth watching, honest).
Heard some of Bruce Fein, too.
Did we all see Jane Mayer on Moyers? I’ve bought her book — it’s grimly fascinating, but again, like all of these books, hard to pick up again.
And Fritz Hollings on Moyers, too - Congress used to work till 5:00 on Fridays! Who could imagine it?
Hey Adam, you first! How bout sending out drafts for comment before you publish..
The bs this week was a wonder to behold. I thought I was beyond being shocked
and sickened. What happened to reality?
hmmm… sounds like a cry for a soothing song.

Holy Crap…! Gohmert is blaming Clinton…! Huh?
I just watched a video of Obama at the US Embassy in Germany - right after hearing a bit on CNN about his not going to Ramstein - (does he hate the troops-meme, it seems). The embassy was packed w/ troops (multiracial and both sexes- only mention because apparently that’s a question, too)–they obviously loved seeing Obama. Let’s play that one over and over, eh?
Uh-oh–here’s Gohmert - it’s all Bill Clinton’s fault??!!?? Aaargh…He has a hard time forigiving Clinton???? I may need to change back to King of the HIll…Reading Valerie Plame’s emails? Grrrrrr. People don’t realize that Joe Wilson wrote an Op-Ed??????
Holy Crap…! Gohmert is blaming Clinton…! Huh?
I thought I heard him “forgiving†Clinton.
Big of him, I thought.
Yep, that was my reaction … huh ? … also, Pence gave Presser the reach around of his life … luckily Johnson slapped Presser back down to reality before his … um … head exploded …
chris hedges, jeremy scahill, jonathan landay, leila fadel, mark danner, nancy youssef, stephen kinzer, warren strobel, amira hass, anthony shadid, dafna linzer, dahr jamail, dana priest, gideon levy, james risen, jane mayer, meron rappaport, murray waas, patrick cockburn, robert fisk, seymour hersh, walter pincus
Blissfully, his clock ran out…! Where do they get critters like that…?
Heh, half of them are foreigners… Pretty sad, eh, Selise?
Gohmert makes Tom DeLay look thoughtful and succinct. What a creature.
Hey, jayt - knew you couldn’t stay slunk to the corner for long.
Didn’t he take over Delay’s seat…? Tyler is mighty close to Sugarland IIRC…!
I loved Conyers introducing him as “Judge†Louis Gohmert … irony overdose, or in reference to AGMM, perhaps not …
Aloha, Mi Amigo! How’s the great white north doing?
I like you cause I think you are really smart. :)
Hey, jayt - knew you couldn’t stay slunk to the corner for long.
yeah - short attention span.
Plus, I lie a lot.
It’s pumpkin time, I think, here in the sleepy northeast.
See you folks next week, when I don’t have to be quite so shortwinded…
Gohmert makes Tom DeLay look thoughtful and succinct. What a creature.
He does seem aptly named…
You’d make a good lawyer…! Oh wait…! ;-)
Oh, and re Nagourney - No. 1 WATB in the press, no? It’s hard to believe that piece on the poll wasn’t deliberate misrepresentation. Michelle O has a problem — leaving out the 80% who had no opinion, and leaving out Cindy McC’s rating of around 7%…How is that not deliberate? I’ve read his pieces with a huge grain of salt for a long time…but this is the worst. And most readers of his piece will never see the damning evidence that we have, so they’ll absorb the memes. Just as intended.
OMG–Lungren up. the talking point “criminalizing political disputes.â€
Shall we send him a copy of Hugh’s list? My head’s gonna explode…
Aloha, Julia! Always a pleasure…! *g*
nite julia
I can’t watch this hearing because I need my head, and my blood vessels, intact.
Lungren is my rep. aaaaaaahhhhhaaaaaaaaa!
A really nice guy, Bill Durston, is running against him. He is an er doc. He used to be the president of Physicians For Social Responsibility. Or I think it was that organization.
sleep well julia
Goodness do you see all the DFH’s in attendance…! ;-)
Hey Buddy, Summer’s here along with tons of Rain, so enjoying both …
i’m rocking out to kpig while packing up the kitchen - tis a better use of the anger than throwing stuff at the teevee
If you would like to see Dr. Durston debating Lungren go here:

Hi everyone…waving from the Oregon coast
OMG the damage to my parents is extensive..
Hey Margot,
I’ve had to leave at least six times. And still I’ve gone back. This Stephen Presser, what?
