[edit] Coined the term "Jesus movement"?

Is there some confirmation to the claim that Duane Pederson "coined" the term "Jesus movement"? In the late 1960s, many social movements were active: the civil rights movement, the free speech movement, the anti-war movement, the hippie movement, the black power movement, the human potential movement, et al.

The movement was variously known in the media as the "Jesus movement", the "Jesus People movement", the "Jesus Freak movement" and other terms. Why do we believe that Pederson invented the term? EricP 18:48, 31 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Don't know about "Jesus Movement", but...

Although attributed with coining the words Jesus People, Fr. Duane Pederson clarified in an audio interview that those exact words were placed in his mouth by a news agency when he said "We're people who love Jesus."
