Taft equation
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Taft equation[1]
- log k = log k0 + Ï*σ* + δEs
like the Hammett equation, to which it is related, correlates the rate constants, k, of a group of chemically-related compounds with changes in substituents. The Taft equation has an additional term, δEs, to represent the contribution from steric effects.
