Report: Christian Conservative Leaders Unite to Support McCain

Border

In a seemingly symbolic move, 100 conservative Christian leaders agreed to unite behind the presumptive Republican presidential nominee John McCain at a meeting Tuesday in Denver, Colo., Time.com reports.

McCain may have become the default choice for some of those leaders, who expressed doubt about presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama. One guest present at the meeting said the motivation behind uniting and offering collective support was closely tied to a desire to defeat Obama.

“None of these people want to meet their maker knowing that they didn’t do everything they could to keep Barack Obama from being president,” Time.com reports the participant said.

Concerns exist that Obama “will decimate moral values,” said Mat Staver, chairman of the Florida law advocacy group Liberty Counsel.

The support is a welcome break for McCain, who had earlier been held at arms’ length by leaders of the large conservative Christian community, which strongly supported President Bush in his elections.

I was starting to get worried that the WHOLE country had gone mad following this wolf, Obama, in sheeps clothing. Thank God Christian Conservatives have seen the light. What a nightmare it would be if Obama and his wife took over the White House. NoObama. McCain 2008.

Obama’s candidacy represents every moral issue that runs contrary to the Bible. How dare he call himself a Christian.

Please everyone. Look at John McCain’s official website. Please read where he stands on the ISSUES. Then read Obama’s website about his “stance” of the issues. That’s what I did. We’ve got to make an educated and informed choice.

There is no comparison. You HAVE to vote McCain.

First, these leaders never claimed to represent every Christian. Second, no one claims to over ride your free will to vote for whomever you wish! I see a lot of hype and anger from some who will vote from Obama. That is your right! I see a lot folk of misrepresenting God’s word also. I have never read where God condemns war! I have read (in Romans) where He condemns homosexuality. I have read where He condemns murder (abortion). I cannot vote for someone who say yes where God says no! My choice! Also folks are stating thoughts about the poor. Somebody show me where God mandated the government to care for the poor. That is a mandate to the believer! How long ago was te Korean war? Yet we have troops still there! How longer ago was WWII? Yet we are still in Japan and Germany! This is the point McCain was making about being in Iraq 100 years!! We are easily swayed by emotion, but not with facts! None of these candidates are perfect! No one is. I will vote for whom I believe is te best of the two! Lastly cut out the hatred! It is so unbecoming of anyone who is named after Christ!

I am for John McCain because I believe he will protect our country and drill for oil to help our economy.

Victor you clearly don’t have your facts straight because McCain has stated that he will be the anti-choice movement’s strongest ally, ““If I am fortunate enough to be elected as the next President of the United States, I pledge to you to be a loyal and unswerving friend of the right to life movement.â€

Try to read up a little more before you have such strong opinions.

I am not surprised by their decision. I will vote for John McCain and I will campaign for him.

Way to go conservatives, support a pro-choice candidate. Obama is and has been a family man. McCain, divorced, and his wife stole from her own non-profit organization. As a reformed conservative for Obama, I fully expected these hard right conservatives to sacrifice their morals and values and go for McCain. Just to show that their ideology isn’t one of faith and God, it is about red and blue. I may never come back to the Republican party or conservative base after this. Thanks.

Great news! conservative must unite behind someone they can work with and that is John McCain. Obama is a “go for broke liberal who does not care what morals a majority of the citizens as long as he has his political base. What is leadership to Him? Does he care about the consequences of immoral and amoral ways. Whoever wants to attack the conservatives of this country should think hard and honestly. If Americans stuck to their values of family, commitment to the basic insitutions of this great nation and what thye traditionally stood for-including the public school system and universities, desire to respect decency in public life, free speech within the parameters of the law, and many more- perhaps we as a nation would be more respected around the world and will truly be the “shining city on the hill.” For the past four years all the members of congress are responsible for useless investigations and costs passed on to the American people. Who can stand that kind of governance?
