Eclipse Ecosystem

We worked hard this quarter to co-locate some project committer meetings with the Members Meeting and Marketing Sympoisum in Chicago (September 19,20). The good news is that there are going to be five face-to-face meetings happening -- the bad news is that they're not going to be co-located because of various travel, timing and event constraints. Here are the five meetings happening that I'm aware of - please pile on if I've missed yours:

When I was LinuxWorld a couple weeks ago I was able to write a mobile app on the new Eclipse-based MOTODEV studio (with some help from the Motorola folks at their developer day event). It looks like Motorola is taking their show on the road with events in San Jose (September 10,11), London UK (November 9th) and Beijing, China (November 12).

Things are going pretty well at LinuxWorld. In summary, the conference itself seems to soft in attendance, the events and things surrounding the conference (like the exhibit hall) seem to be rocking.

On Tuesday, ACCESS (formerly PalmSource) hosted a developer day showing off their Linux platform and also their developer tool chain based on - of course - Eclipse.

Yesterday, Motorola also hosted a developer day and formally launched MOTODEV Studio. I was lucky enough to snag a new MOTORAZR v8 earlier in the week and wrote my first Mobile app for it. MOTODEV studio is based on - Eclipse of course. The MOTORAZR v8 is Motorola's new Linux based platform.

Today I'll be checking out the Wind River developer day and tools for their Linux platform -- guess what it's based on? :)
