The fbFund Developer Competition
We are thrilled to announce our first fbFund competition and look forward to reviewing the applications you’ve been working on. We’ve launched the competition to create a fun, exciting, and new opportunity to get your application funding, exposure (to Facebook execs and potential investors), mentorship, and marketing.
How It Works (Competition Format)
Nearly $2 million in non-recourse grants will be distributed between two rounds of the competition:
Round I: Identifying talent
Submissions reviewed by Investors, Facebook fbFund Team, Advisory Committee. We will award $25k grants to our top 25 apps.
Round II: Developers Defining Social
Submissions reviewed by Facebook users, Facebook fbFund Team, Advisory Committee. We will award $250k grants to our top 5. Only winners of Round I can apply for Round II.
All entries must be submitted by 11:59pm Pacific Standard Time. Submission requirements for each round and Team/Developer eligibility are listed in the fbFund FAQ.
Selection Criteria
Our Judges will reward Entries that best consider our Guiding Principles and the following criteria:
Originality of Concept
Does the application introduce a great idea in a new and unexplored area?
Market
Is this application targeted to key cohorts or meet compelling market needs?
Social/Useful
Does the application enable people to interact with each other? Does it deliver real value to users (incl. entertainment)?
Expressive
Does the application allow people to share more information?
Intuitive
Is the application compelling and easy to use? Does it have a well thought out user experience?
Potential
Can it be a real business someday?
Team
Do you believe this team can execute and is driven to succeed?
Applications are given a score of 1 to 10 in each area by our judges and a weighted average is calculated. In the case of a tie, judges will select the application with the highest "Social/Useful" score. It is important that all fbFund applications have the potential to become Great Apps.

Building a great team
The ideal team for us to fund has a lot of technical depth and passion for Facebook. We care more about how smart you are than how old you are, and more about the quality of your ideas and ability to execute than on your formal business plan.
