Respond appropriately to public queries about ccLearn, Creative Commons’ licenses, general licensing and intellectual property law issues. Review and draft grant applications, press releases and other documentation. Represent ccLearn publicly in various venues and with various audiences, both domestically and internationally.

A law degree, ideally with at least two years’ experience in intellectual property and copyright. Please note that these are minimum qualifications…. Good familiarity (ideally with some relevant experience) with Creative Commons, open source software, open access issues, or equivalent. Willingness to engage in legal research in other, intersecting areas of interest. Excitement about the potential for Creative Commons to make a real difference in education. Understanding of international law and the nature of legal documents that are intended to apply internationally. Familiarity and facility with technology, especially for communications tools (e.g., wikis, blogs, IM).

Desired qualifications:

A dedication to the basic principles of openness, such as mediated by CC licensing, and particularly the open education movement. A deep appreciation for the challenges faced by specific communities, including other countries and cultures, in terms of educational achievement, and the role of the law in either helping or hindering improvements in educational access and practices. Ability to work independently and efficiently. Ability to set priorities and maintain communications despite a constantly shifting schedule. Good collaborative and interpersonal skills. Project management experience is also a plus.
