Previous Updates:

General Contractor and Architect: Calvary has selected a Design Build Church Contractor. The company is RMessner Construction and its president is Richard Messner. RMessner has been building churches throughout America for over 15 years. RMessner has an in-house architectural staff with Don Kimble AIA as the Chief Architect. Mr. Kimble has been designing churches for over 25 years.

Civil Engineering Firm: Calvary has selected Zev Cohen and Associates as our Civil Engineer. The Civil Engineer handles all the planning for the site. One of our own members, Andre Atkinstall, is the Project Engineer from Zev Cohen working on our project.

3.21.07 - All applications and completed plans were submitted to the City of Ormond Beach and St. Johns Water Management Authority.

4.18.07- 4.19.07 Met with Architects, Construction Managers, Electrical Contractor, Audio/Visual and Lighting Consultant, and Interior Design team to discuss the plans for the new building. The architectural plans are now 95% complete and the discussions were designed to answer questions that now allow us to move toward finalizing those plans within the next 45 days.

4.20.07 Met with the City of Ormond Beach Planning Department, along with our Architects and Engineers to discuss the city's initial comments/concerns on the plans we submitted to them. The City had some minor zoning issues and some code issues that mainly concerned the height of our building. However, through the discussions with the City and our team of architects and engineers a plan of action was developed that will address all of the City's concerns. We do not foresee any major hurdles with the City of Ormond Beach that will hinder the progress of our project. We would like to extend a thank you to Michelle in the City of Ormond Beach planning department for her extreme willingness to assist us in finding solutions to the City's concerns.

4.20.07 Received the St. John's Water Management authority's initial concerns after their review of our plans. Our Environment Engineer is currently developing answers to their concerns. Our Engineers initially developed our site plan to stay out of any wetlands and to adhere to all of St. John's requirements. Therefore, we do not foresee any major hurdles with St. Johns.

7-27-07 Filed for a small scale comp plan amendment with the City. This amendment includes rezoning 10 acres of our current property from high density residential to commercial. This is very important besides part of our new building will sit on the 10 acres and the property must be zoned commercial for that to happen.

8-22-07 A general permit was authorized by the staff of the St. Johns River Water Management District. St. Johns addresses all environmental concerns with wetlands and the Tomoka River so this is a huge step forward.

9-14-07 Withdrew Annexation request from the City of Ormond Beach. We are no longer going to annex our new property into the City. It is going to stay in the county and the County is going to review the plans on a staff level for everything that is in the county. Only 900 sq ft of the building and parking will be in the county. This is a positive because it solves our enclave issue and saves us from going through annexation.

10.18.07 The Development Board gave unanimous approval for the FLU and zoning amendments.
