Blog on Spring and DWR. AJAX with Spring made easy!

Released: Building Spring 2 Enterprise Applications

Filed under: Java, Personal, Spring — Bram Smeets at 5:14 pm on Tuesday, August 28, 2007

Finally, after a delay of about one and a half year, the book I co-authored was released last Friday!

This book, originally initiated by Steven Devijver and originally titled ‘Beginning Spring 2: From Novice to Professional’, has been renamed to ‘Building Spring 2 Enterprise Applications’. It is targeted at people that are relatively new to J2EE / Java EE and want to learn how to use Spring to build robust enterprise applications.

I am very much looking forward to your reviews. Personally I really like chapter 4 which goes into the details of Spring AOP and AspectJ support in Spring 2.0. I hope you have fun reading it!

Hi
I purchased the eBook from Apress but cannot get the source code bundle download. The techsupport at Apress told me that they have not received the code from the authors.

Would perhaps know when the code will be available ? Or suggest some alternative download location ?

Thanks a lot in advance

Hi,

I’ve been waiting a long time for this book. I ordered it from Amazon ages ago and today I got yet another notification that it is being delayed again! Was it really released in August? If so then I ‘ll have to contact Amazon and ask what this delay is for as this is becoming a joke.

Cheers,

Tim

Hi Tim,

Yes, it has been released somewhere at the end of August, although it took a week or so before I received my copies.
However, if you ordered it some time ago it should have been delivered already.
I would contact Amazon if I were you ;-)

Greetings,
Bram

I had also preordered in August of 2006. Amazon still lists Beginning Spring 2: From Novice to Professional as coming out Dec 17th, 2007.

They have the updated title of the book shipping within 24 hours.

You are right, the book was originally titled ‘Beginning Spring 2: From Novice to Professional’ but was renamed in the beginning of this year to the current title.

The new ‘Beginning Spring 2′ book is due in December.

The application seems to have lot of compile time errors . Can you please zip and upload the application with all dependencies?

Thanks n Regards

+1 Loveleen.

is it possible to have the source code ‘tightened’ up? it seems a bit incomplete. unless i’m jumping the gun and succeeding chapters classfiles are supposed to be added to the app in the chapter 2 folder?

thanks again!
