catholics, evangelicals and wheaton...
1 Comments Published by bradandgeo on Wednesday, January 11, 2006 at 12:39.the wall street journal has kicked up quite a storm by reporting a story of a wheaton prof who was dismissed because of his conversion to roman catholicism. Christianity today has picked up the story and commented on it, as has scot mcknight, who has written a scholarly article on the subject available here. some interesting comments are coming from catholics at first things as well as anglicans at titusonenine. the latter is interesting because in the comments section some wheaton faculty members get in on the action, and have quite outspoken views. this has got a lot of people asking, is the reformation really over?

"... is the Reformation really over?" Well, anybody asking that question is just proving he didn't understand the thoughts of the Protestant Reformers. Martin Luther kept talking about the "ecclesia semper reformanda", the church that has always to be reformed. For him, "the Reformation" (which, anyway, he never got to see as the single act we now see through the eyes of the historian) was not one particular moment, and not even the question of one particular issue (although Protestants, mostly through Melanchthons theology, managed to nail it to the question of justification). Reformation is an ongoing process that has to continue throughout every age and generation.
God bless you, Toph.
