Yahoo Web Hosting Review - DONE and DONE
Web hosting is a very lucrative online game. Yahoo web hosting is relatively new in the game. Everybody with a website needs hosting, and there are billions of web sites on the internet. With those facts in mind, it would be logical that the two internet giants, Yahoo hosting and Google hosting, would have extremely attractive web hosting plans.
Unfortunately, that happens not to be the case. They both do have web hosting, but they are not sufficiently developed as to be useful to the everyday webmaster. I’ve already done a thorough review of Google Web Hosting previously, and their hosting service lacks some serious power (for example, they don’t suport PHP..waht kind of web hosting service doesn’t support PHP??).
In this post, I’ll be going over Yahoo Web Hosting predominantly, and comparing it to the Google’s hosting afterwards.
The Cheapest Yahoo Web Hosting Plan
8.96/month for 3 months trial
11.95/month afterwards, paid every 3 months
no set up fee (for now)
Get a domain name for $7 with the hosting
30 day refund guarantee, keep the domain for $7
24 hour customer service by phone
unlimited disk space
unlimited data transfer
1000 emails
online site buidling
nl php, mysql stuff
$100 yahoo search marketing
$50 google adwords
30% off yahoo local listings
The Good
-unlimited hosting space, and that’s a whole lot of hosting space
-even more importantly, unlimited data transfer! UNLIMITED! (I think I just exploded on my iphone)
-free money ($150 total) - though if you use it, you’ll probably lose it anyway. but hey…
-free domain name
-pay every 3 months
The Dirt
-9 bucks a month in hosting fees is a little expensive for my tastes, and probably for most people starting out
-apparently the customer service is horendous, even worse than not knowing anything, they act like your bothering them with your problems
Are You Freakin’ Kidding Me?
You’re Yahoo! You can’t afford to pay a few techies enough money to be nice to to your webmasters?? Customer service is paramount when it comes to web hosting (that’s what I like PolurNet hosting so much), and the great Yahoo can’t provide help to people paying good money for web hosting??
At first, Yahoo hosting sounds like the way to go, but it’s not quite as clear cut as that. In my estimation, if you know what you’re doing with your php and databases, and can basically function on your own, Yahoo web hosting is probably a great deal for you. If you’re like me, and you just want get a website online, but want all the extra bells and whistles of wordpress, you should probably go somewhere else..
That being said, Google web hosting may not be it either. The great thing about Google (other than the name) is they’re free….I mean, really, you can’t beat free hosting. But they don’t support any of the normal necessary web hosting stuff, like wordpress, php, databases, etc. Basically, Google’s hosting is a glorified blogger. Really, Google can afford free food for their employees, they should be able to afford a free equitable hosting plan.
