GoDaddy Web Hosting Review with Dirt
Filed under: GoDaddy Web Hosting, Web Hosting
I don’t have much experience with GoDaddy Web Hosting, but I will do this web host review based on the limited experience with a free hosting account I established. Let me warn you, though, it’s not going to be pretty.
First of all, here is their cheapest plan:
The Cheapest Plan
• 10 GB Space
• 300 GB Transfer
• 500 Email Accounts
• Free Software
• 10 MySQL Databases
• 50 Email Forwards
• Forums, Blogging, Photos
• Go Daddy Hosting Connection
• $20 Google AdWord Credit
• $25 Microsoft adCenter Credit
• Free Google Webmaster Tools
Cost: $4.29/month for 2 months or $3.65/month for 3 years
The Good
The Dirt
Let me tell you about their customer service. When I was trying to set up my website for Local Movie Theaters on their free hosting service (that’s right, they have a free hosting service, but they put ads on your site, as with any other free hosting service), I just couldn’t get the site up and running.
So, of course, I call their customer service. The first guy tells me I need to reinstall the site. I did. It didn’t work. The second guy tells me that I deleted their advertising file, so he put me on hold for about 20 minutes while he tried to reinstall it. He finally did it. Site still didn’t work. I called again, and this third guy was a little snippy with me, suggested something which I forget now. I tried it. It didn’t work. I called a FOURTH time. No help. Let me tell you, now I was getting frustrated. Seriously, folks…
Are You Freakin’ Kidding Me?
I called FOUR times, and they still couldn’t help me? What kind of dumb ass cutomer service is that? And that was using their free hosting!! If I can’t get my site to work with their free hosting, is there any possibility under the sun that I’m actually going to pay for hosting with them??
Well, you can guess the answer to that!
Grrrrrrrr…..web hosting sucks!!
The other thing, there’s this rumbling about godaddy photobucket feed problem. I don’t know what that’s about. Anyway, so I went with PolurNet hosting instead.
I must say that overall, I was definitely not happy with the GoDaddy web hosting service. Perhaps my experience was limited, but c’mon, if they can’t help me out so that my site works on their free web hosting, there’s no way I’m going to trust them with my money for months to years.

You might try addr.com. I’ve used them for years for multiple sites, and the customer service is great. They even fixed my site when I screwed it up during a WordPress upgrade. They’re not free but are worth it.

I do my domain registration with godaddy. But never host there. Their hosting is fine for a static html site.
I’ve had awful luck with their mysql servers every time. If you just want a place to host a blog - I use hostgator - have about 8 blogs on one account. Make sure you use wp-cache or wp-super-cache to help reduce your footprint.

I am in fact using Godaddy Deluxe hosting service for my blog and found little problems with their service. I have to admit that customer support sucks and most of the time, I have to figure out the problem and solve it by my self. Other that that in my four months of using their service, I have experienced an average of 1 downtime per month which doesn’t last very long. I can’t comment on their cheapest service though. If you are a new-user, their interface can be a little hard to navigate and can get very confusing.

We have all our domains at godaddy and I got a couple of small hosting accounts for my kids to keep them off our servers and they like the speed and the service.
