Updated July 30, 2008: Phil Wainewright’s work as an independent consultant brings him into direct or indirect business relationships with several of the companies that he writes about, or their competitors. Phil is committed to maintaining the independent and opinionated stance that his writings are well known for and does not enter into contracts that would limit his freedom of expression in any way. However it is important in the interests of full disclosure to inform readers of those relationships so they can form their own judgement. This page therefore lists all Phil’s current business relationships.

Phil Wainewright is a co-owner and director of Procullux Ventures, a privately-held consultancy business. Procullux provides consultancy services to companies primarily in the on-demand sector, advising on marketing messages, positioning and business strategies. It also owns, through a subsidiary, the Loosely Coupled website. Current and recent Procullux clients are:

NTRglobal CrownPeak eVapt — Phil is hosting a series of webinars on maximizing SaaS revenue. Salesforce.com — Phil has written several white papers for the vendor this year, including Reinventing the Business Workspace for the launch of Salesforce for Google Apps. Bungee Labs — Phil recently participated in a BriefingsDirect podcast sponsored by Bungee. Oracle — Phil was the keynote speaker at an industry summit on Software as a Service held at Oracle headquarters in January. rPath — Phil participated in a webinar in November. Cape Clear Software — Phil took part in a podcast in September. WebEx Communications — A series of webcasts called Work 2.0: Conversations with Phil Wainewright asks customers, partners and analysts how on-demand collaboration is changing the way we work. Business Objects — Phil took part in a couple of podcasts in May 2007 entellium — Phil has written a short series of articles on the topic of smart clients for the company’s Think Outside the Browser blog. Several years previously, Phil served as a director of entellium and retains a small equity holding in the company. Rearden Commerce — Phil has written a white paper about Rearden’s business services infrastructure and also recorded a podcast interview. Jamcracker — Phil participated in a webinar in August 2006 OpSource funded Phil’s travel and accommodation to attend the SaaS Summit 2008 in San Francisco this February smartFOCUS Pelican Bridge

SAP has paid Phil’s flight and accommodation expenses to attend SAPPHIRE Berlin in May this year.

Phil presented a session on Virtualization - SaaS short-cut or end-run? at the SaaScon 2008 conference in Santa Clara, CA, on March 26. ComputerWorld, which organizes the event, contributed to his travel and accommodation expenses. Phil has been a member of the advisory board for SaaScon since its inception.

Phil serves on the steering committee for the SIIA’s On Demand Summit held in San Jose each November, and attends as a speaker. He also spoke at the OnDemand Europe conference in Amsterdam in June.

Phil delivered a keynote presentation at WebSideStory’s ActiveInsights user conference in April 2006. The company funded his air travel for the trip and accommodation at the conference hotel.
