Sacrificing Fashion In The Name Of Painless Feet

Sunday, August 3rd, 2008

I’m a big fan of Craig Wilson who writes The Final Word column for USA Today.  When I have a chance, I attempt to scan a variety of morning papers, with USA Today being one of my favorites.

I have become very fond of Craig’s column which offers many unique insights about life.  He has a great sense of humor, but more importantly he knows how to cut to the chase on life’s little hassles which really don’t matter all that much, even though some people think they do.

In his July 30, 2008 column Craig examined whether it is appropriate to go sockless in certain shoe situations.  I found his column amusing and entertaining.  Little did I know that sock controversy would strike in my own life in a matter of days.

More on Bob Kuban - My Side Of The Bandstand

Thursday, June 5th, 2008

I’ll tell you all a secret. Most of the time I think that no one reads my blogs. Or for that matter, the thousands of articles (literally) I have written over the past ten years for HairBoutique.com, MultiMedia (101 Celebrity Hairstyles, Short Cuts, Hair Gallery), Harris or the many other publications I have free lanced for during that time.

Throwing A Party Like On The Hills

Saturday, April 5th, 2008

A very special friend of mine who used to be an editor at Vogue, and just about every other major fashion magazine in the Universe, recently emailed me a link to The Hills. Why? Whitney was wearing a headband and she asked me if I knew who designed it.

I watched the episode and locked on the headband and sent the info back. Unfortunately I got completely hooked on The Hills. I had never managed to catch the show before due to the fact that I already watch a gadzillion shows and even I eventually run out of time.

Once I caught the Hills bug I had to go back and watch all the episodes from Seasons 1 - 3. Now I am a huge fan of Lauren’s, Whitney and Adrina. I know who Lo is and of course Jen, Spencer, Heidi and Elodie.

The Apple iPhone Instant Photo Shoot

Friday, April 4th, 2008

Yes - I know - I am beautiful…

Well let’s put it this way: with the right lighting, some good make-up, a good stylist, and an excellent photographer - I am beautiful. Needless to say, I haven’t been a part of any random photo shoots since that time at the Dallas Arboretum (long story)….and that one time after my cousin’s wedding (another long story) … and that one time in Cancun, but you get my drift.

So there I was, excitedly rushing off to meet one of my “rather hot guy friends” for dinner, and into the elevator I walk…The Apple iPhone Instant Photo Shoot

Cheers – Where Everybody Knows Your Name

Monday, March 31st, 2008

Cheers - Where Everybody Knows Your NameI used to think this old adage, made popular by the famous show Cheers, was a lovely state of being - one I have experienced many times over. It was always quite like the show itself - walking into my favorite little bar, Rip Rocks, being greeted by name by Cheers - Where Everybody Knows Your Nameeveryone from the door man, to the patrons, to the bartender. By the time I had made my way to the back, they’d have my signature drink waiting - margarita on the rocks with salt, two olives, two cherries, and a twist of lime. My favorite dart board would always be waiting and one of my best friends would happen to walk in soon after I did.

Every Cheers experience I had ever had - was just as happy, joyful, and full of laughs as the show itself…until just recently…when it turned into one of those famous Snickers commercials…Wanna get away?
