I love the SmartFeed function that FeedBurner provides. When I give out my feed address, I know it'll be accessible from any browser, podcatcher, or news aggregator software. So everyone can tune in to the podcast. Much love for FeedBurner!" - Simon and the team at musiccanteen.com, the music download site for independent musicians 2/22/06

From the Quick Hits Dept.: Transferring Feeds Between Accounts

Alright, so we're a little behind on announcing this feature as well. It's been live for weeks and is a real time-saver for everyone involved: the new, self-service Feed Transfer capability. As more and more people build blogs and burn feeds, changes in content ownership and control lead to the desire to move a FeedBurner feed from one account to another. In ye goode olde days, someone who wanted to transfer a feed to another account used to a submit a request to us, and then a staffer in our own Central Planning and Command-Line Voodoo department would verify the accounts and then complete the actual feed transfer. Reliable, but time-consuming and tedious for all parties involved.

Away with workaday drudgery! If you own a feed, you may now transfer it to anyone you like simply by using the Transfer Feed… link, which is listed on your feed's details page and is handily pictured below:

transfer link callout

Just provide the email address of the person you wish to transfer this feed to and FeedBurner will send them a transfer request email. The recipient clicks a link in the email and then creates or signs into a FeedBurner account and accepts the transfer on-the-spot. The transfer itself will be completed immediately, moving the feed from your account to theirs. (Please note that only feed owners may initiate transfers from their own accounts to others. Additional how-to info about Feed Transfer is in our Help Center topic.)

We hope this update makes the process of moving feeds around much simpler for all of you. Thanks for letting us know just how popular (and necessary) this feature is!

Nice. Now all you need is the ability to import subscriber lists from other services or xml files etc... and customized email subject lines. Then your service will be exceedingly great (more so than now!)

@David: We'll get back to the email subscriber importing side of things once our integration into Google gets past the first major milestones (we realize this is a Big Deal and lots of publishers have asked about it). Customizable subject lines are currently available, however -- look in the "Email Branding" section of the Email Subscriptions service and change the "Email Subject/Title" field to the subject line you want.

This is a great addition, and I'm moving all my blogs to use FB now :D

My hope is that you guys will incorporate the ability to make the Subject Line of the Email Delivery pull from the Post URL - so that the article headline is reflected in the subject line of emails to improve open rates.

Just what I need to transfer an old blog to my newer account. Thanks! (PS: My subscriber stats are reading 0 today, which is "unpossible". Bugfix?)

Have you checked that your feed transfer is
even working .... because when i clicked on the transfer link for verification it goes successfully but it still doesn't show in "my feeds"

any solution

@Raj: After accepting the transfer, you may need to sign out and then immediately sign back into your FeedBurner account in order to see the newly transferred feed.
