This is a letter to our Web 2.0 Expo Europe community.
We are extremely excited to be returning to Berlin for the second year. This year we renamed our conference Web 2.0 Expo Europe to emphasize our efforts to create a robust, content-strong, and community-oriented pan-European event.
Led by blog mavens Suw Charman, Nicole Simon, and Stephanie Booth we launched a bloggers’ outreach initiative. And I want to say a heartfelt THANK YOU to these ladies and the 80 bloggers, spanning across the European continent and languages, who we’ve got on board supporting Web 2.0 Expo Europe. There is much news on the horizon…
For the bloggers in our program we’re putting together a special roundtable discussion with Tim O’Reilly and conference co-chairs Jennifer Pahlka and Brady Forrest - a forum for Q&A and idea-sharing. We’ll also be coordinating more speaker interviews for you all to share with your readers.
We’ve officially launched Crowdvine, the social network for Web 2.0 Expo Europe. Check it out, check it out. Join, network, ask questions, post job requests, find friends, mingle online… and take advantage by meeting the folks you’ll be seeing next month in Berlin!
Our friends at Berlin Partners has launched Berlin Web Week - a way to embrace all the community events happening during and around Web 2.0 Expo Europe. Click here to see what events are listed. Submit your own events here!
Barcamp Berlin3 is being held the weekend before Expo (18th & 19th). 945 members on the wiki and exploding! They are doing such an amazing job - see their blog. And yes, I am taking avid notes on their community-building efforts.
So on a personal note, I’m relatively new to the blogosphere and my writing has been more event-reactive then pro-active to date. So I want to apologize to you dear community that this blog has been so New York focused in the past few months.
The O’Reilly Media and TechWeb teams that put together the inaugural Web 2.0 Expo New York show is the same that is pulling together Europe, and we’ve all been working really long hours planning, prepping and launching - for both shows simultaneously.
Will you accept no excuses?
Well, fear not. This letter is a precursor to great things to come. In a few short days I’ll be flying out to Berlin to be community ground-support leading up to the October 21-23 event. I want to hear your thoughts and take action based on your recommendations. The team here wants to engage with you… as what we’re building is FOR YOU.

Last time wasn’t perfect, but you will get there! Am really looking forward to the event. Just one thing: Using crowdvine in Germany is a big mistake. Why don’t you go for what the people are used to and like?
And the big thing: The location. That is the middle of everything. hope it will be good. but I trust in you!
