Clyburn to Make Long-Awaited Endorsement of Obama

By Jonathan Weisman
House Majority Whip James Clyburn (D-S.C.), the highest ranking African American in Congress, will endorse Sen. Barack Obama on Tuesday, as he pushed undeclared Democratic lawmakers to come off the fence and end the nomination fight.

Clyburn's pick comes as no surprise: His daughter has been working for the Illinois senator for months, and he has repeatedly castigated both Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) and former President Bill Clinton for statements he has said have demeaned black voters and marginalized the first African American contender in a major party nomination fight.

But he is the first member of the senior House leadership to endorse. And his announcement tomorrow coincides with his personal push to get the final 73 House members and senators who have not chosen a side to make their intentions clear.

I am a feminist, and there is no way I will support Obama. I would rather see the feminist movement die than see Obama become president. I was really hurt that Clinton did not get the nomination. Now McCain gets my vote. I could care less that Obama is a champion of women's rights with a 100% rating from NARAL. I hope McCain turns back the strides in equal rights for women--as he has promised to do--for all I care.

I could care less that McCain laughed hysterically on camera when someone called Hillary a bit*h or that he has said Chelsea Clinton is so ugly because Janet Reno is her father. My bruised feelings are of primary importance to me and the ONLY thing that matters is ME. Until the Democratic Party BLINDLY rubber stamps all female Democratic candidates for President--no matter what rules they break or how often they lie, cheat, steal, race bait and assassination dream--This is what they get!

The Republicans already presided over the biggest national security failure since Pearl Harbor.

They distracted the public by throwing in an extra war. Two for the price of one! A war McCain still supports and won't claim to end it until his fifth year; AFTER he gets re-elected.

Now for their strong suit: they only temporarily wrecked the economy right into a recession.

If their old strengths were national security and national finances, what are their new strengths? McCain, anyone?

That ole'Negro spiritual is a race baiting, back stabber.

I can't stand a backstabber who rode the coat tails of a family, only to stab them in the chest when he can see his face in the mirror of the candidate he endorses.

He is a boot licking fool and a disgrace to the entire race.

Between James Clyburn and Donna Brazile, who needed Reconstruction.

As an Obama supporter, can I say that "Duh" (an appropriate name for this writer) doesn't speak for the vast majority of us who will be very happy to welcome Hillary Clinton supporters into the campaign when they are ready to contemplate doing it.

If you consider the issues - which is what we are fighting for, after all - Clinton and Obama are much closer, especially on the domestic issues. I shudder to think what one or two more Roberts and Alito-type Justices would do to the Supreme Court.

It's about time, the superdelegates get their acts together. It has been reported ever since March 4th, that superdelegates would determine the outcome.

Hillary and Bill need a long vacation before they come back to campaign for Obama, especially with new allegations that Bill's been a bit too "flirtly" on the campaign trial.

An untold story lies behind Hillary Clinton's determination to remain in the race for the Democratic presidential nomination -- the possible revelation of a shocking recording of rival Barack Obama's wife Michelle.

That's the word from longtime political analyst Roger J. Stone Jr., who writes on his The StoneZONE Web site that the recording purportedly documents Michelle Obama making racist comments in a speech.

According to Stone, Hillary aides are in a race with Republicans to get their hands on the offensive recording.

"On the heels of Michelle Obama's quote that she 'has never been proud of her country' until now, the new controversy could turn the contest upside down, but it more likely" to benefit "John McCain than to boost Hillary Clinton to the nomination -- if the alleged recording exists," Stone writes.

He also asserts that Mark Penn, Clinton's former chief campaign strategist, has told sources that the bombshell "could come this week."

If not Hillary Clinton, then I will support John McCain. I refuse to accept the fearmongering that is being spread on here and throughout the internet about how voting for the Maverick, Senator John McCain would be another Bush term. They are wrong for the following reasons: 1) He is a Maverick and does not toe the party line like Bush has done for the most part; 2) The Democrats are set to win a FILIBUSTER-PROOF MAJORITY based on their fundraising advantage and the fact that Democrats are polling better and have taken previously Republican-held districts and states.

It will be impossible for John McCain to do all these supposedly "evil" things if the Democrats have a filibuster-proof majority.

So if John McCain tries to nominate ultra-conservative candidates to the Supreme Court, guess what? The Democrats will vote them down. If McCain tries to veto any progressive language that the Democrats pass, then the Democrats will simply override his veto. With a filibuster-proof majority, the Democrats will practically be able to run the country without John McCain if need be, so don't fear voting for John McCain as a protest vote in order to teach the DNC RBC and the Democratic elite a lesson!

If not Clinton, then vote for McCain (but make sure you vote Democratic candidates for Congress)!

Obama is an empty suit. He is like the character Tom Grunick played by William Hurt in the movie, "Broadcast News". He reads a teleprompter very well. He is handsome. He is well educated. But, grownups decide the character of another by looking at his past actions and associations. Why would Obama flirt with the likes of Wright and Ayres? If he loves this country so much, why doesn't he defend all that is special about this country. Why doesn't he scream out in Trinity Church, "We are lucky, this is the greatest country in history, look at me - the son of white, welfare mother and semen from a random Kenyan. I was raised by my white grandparents. And, I'm a freaking senator. Enough of the whining and complaining about racism. The most egregious racism the black community faces comes from within - it's called dependence, and lowered expectations we have of ourselves. Wake up! Anybody want to follow me into a church that preaches responsibility and respect for others and love, c'mon."

The DNC rules were clear, it's amazing they got anything. What are rules for? Obama will make a fantastic President. And he will win. The US will have a President we can be proud of - it's been awhile. For those that prefer to base your opinions on lies and rumors, you are free to stay uneducated to the truth, but I have no idea why that makes you happy. For some of you it obviously does. Obamas quitting the church,is not enough, he just doesn't get it..

He is Unelectable !!

The Obamas have practiced Black
Theology from the writing of Marxist James H. Cone... for 20 years !!!

this is what his church taught his daughters on Sundays..

"Black theology refuses to accept a God who is not identified totally with the
goals of the black community. If God is not for us and against white people,
then he is a murderer and we had better kill him. The task of black theology is
to kill gods who do not belong to the black community. Black theology will
accept only the love of God which participates in the destruction of the white
enemy. What we need is the divine love as expressed in black power which is the
power of black people to destroy their oppressors here and now by any means at
their disposal. Unless God is participating in his holy activity, we must reject
his love."

...and Obama himself... before TUCC....

Malcolm X's autobiography seemed to offer something different," Obama wrote.
"His repeated acts of self-creation spoke to me; the blunt poetry of his words,
his unadorned insistence on respect, promised a new and uncompromising order,
martial in its discipline, forged through sheer force of will."

While working as a community organizer for a group of churches in Chicago, Obama
was repeatedly asked to join Christian congregations, but begged off.

How can this man represent all Americans ???

The role of the "whip" is to whip (sort of like getting all the horses lined up) the votes of members in the House of Representatives in line with the party's position on items coming on the floor. Well, with the Whip coming over, I expect the rest of the House members will come shortly. They understand what it means when Clyburn makes his move.

I understand that many people are frustrated and/or disapointed with the Democratic primary process. Yes, it was flawed. Yes, it got heated. Yes, people said things that should not have been said. Yes, the issues of race and gender were used as levelage for and against our candidates. However, I beg you to focus on the message not the messenger. I beseech the American public, democrate, moderate republican, and independent, to consider the message in light of your own best interest:

We now know for sure ( per McClellan's Book) that the Bush White house lied to get us into this war. Yet,McCain has said he believes the war was the right thing to do, and the American people should give him a chance to run it better. He has said he is prepared to stay in Iraq until "we win" even if it takes 100 years (later he said 2013). With our troups on their 3rd and 4th tours, who's going to fight McCain's war? Your children and grandchildren, that's who!

The democratic candidates have both pledged to end the war as soon as is safe to do so. They have pledged to work with commanders on the ground, diplomats, and even our enimies in order to ensure a safe withdrawal for our troups and the people of Iraq.

McCain has said he will continue the Bush economic policies, including huge tax cuts to billionaires and companies like Exxon. Gas is almost $5 a gallon in many cities; millions of middle-class Americans are losing their homes; and more and more jobs are being shipped over seas so that companies can make bigger profits, while Americans are layed off in record numbers. Both Warren Buffet and Alen Greenspan have stated that if we do not change our economic policies as a nation, we are setting ourselves up for an even greater economic crisis.

Both democratics candidates have said they will go back to the tax structure of the 90s for wealthy people, but will cut taxes for middle income Americans. They will give tax credits to companies that hire Americans, and tax those that take our jobs over seas.

McCain has promised to put more ultra conservative judges on the Supreme Court to pacify the far right. This would, of course, position the court to overturn Roe v. Wade.

Both democratic candidates would appoint more centralist judges, ensuring a woman's right to choose.

The bottom line is, we must elect a democratic president. No matter how strongly you support Hillary or Barack, no matter which one wins the nomination, WE MUST ELECT A DEMOCRATIC PRESIDENT or we could lose the America we all know and love. It doesn't matter whether or not you like black people, or how you feel about a woman president, we cannot afford 4 more years heading in this direction. So, set your emotions aside and put your own best interest ahead or the personalities and phyical attributes of the candidates.

If you allow McCain to be voted in as president and gas gets to $10 a gallon, and you're in the unemployment line, and your grandchild has been drafted into a war that cannot be won, it's no body's fault, but your own.

Then Why are all of former Clinton
advisers on Obamas team????

And if it's not all about his Obama race, then why do obama supports keep saying "the world is watching what we do"

Why if it's not about Obamas race, then why do Obama supporters say "Just think what kind of a message it will Send to the world if we elect Obama"!

Why if you say "We want change" then why are all the same old people from Clinton Presidency, advising Obama? No change will be if all the old Clinton puppet masters will be running the show again!

What a load of BS this election has been about.
Foreign polices advisor from President Bill Clinton are advising Obama! No Change!

I have learned that this election was a crock!
That the Republicans party and the Democratic party are evil!!!

Welcome aboard Mr. Clyburn and welcome to the bandwagon to CHANGE WE CAN BELIEVE IN.

Fellow Obamanots relax the stake will be driven through her candidacy by June 3rd and that is a solid four days before David Plouffe predicted when I met with him at an event in Miami two months ago. It is painful to watch this b.s. happen around us.

Stay focused on the big prize and get ready to rumble with John Mc War and his hit men. They will be coming at us with all sorts of other lies to make us fear Barack Obama being our President.

You know what to expect:
Barack is too young
Barack is a Muslim
Barack will surrender to terrorists
We wont be safe America
Life begins at inception
We know the economy better than Barack
he will talk to bad guys

Blah Blah Blah. they will put up as many boogeymen as Hillary put up lies.

Barack Obama scares the hell out of the status quo because it is their power that will be usurped and ours as the people will be restored. Thank god he has assembled he best political campaign team in the history of our country. Plouffe, Axelrod and the 1.7 million of us out there pounding the pavement and making the calls for change are unstoppable. Rest you won the first battle against the biggest name in politics and we will need the energy between now and November.

Dear American Voters,

Hon. Senator McCain and Obama, besides each having many attributes and characteristics. The critical differences in my professional, political, and personal opinion are as under:

1. Presidential "Temperament and Composer".
2. Little Washington "insider Versus outsider" connectedness.
3. Vision and mission for our nation future rather than past.
4. American policies first USA centric than other countries centric.

In my professional opinion one senator has it and the other does not. We need one for our Greatgrand Nation to address our all these challenges with a fresh, clean and new slate.

God Bless America. its diverse people, and our Greatgrand Nation.
