I think the model of the blog is broken.We put up content that can be accessed at any time. We let people download the content directly to RSS readers avoiding our site entirely.
Why not instead put content up for a limited amount of time and then remove it. Then visitors - if they want to read the content - must come to the site regularly.
Articles could stay up for a week before they’re removed. Probably one decent post per week is better than many garbage posts.
If old content must stay up, it could be locked up, only available to those who have registered as users of the website.
Or, howabout this: old articles remain, but only the first half of each article. If visitors want to read them in their entirety, they must register.
Maybe I will try that. I suspect traffic goes up.
