Sen. Ted Stevens, the longest-serving Republican senator and a figure in Alaska politics since before statehood, has been indicted on seven counts of falsely reporting hundreds of thousands of dollars in services he received from a company that helped renovate his home. From May 1999 to August 2007, prosecutors said Stevens concealed “his continuing receipt of hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of things of value from an [Oil Company].” Stevens, who has served in the U.S. Senate for 40 years, is up for re-election this year, and Democrats view his seat as one of their top pick-up opportunities.

Hans Rausing, 45, an heir to the £5.4 billion Tetra Pak drinks carton empire, was embarrassingly drawn into the public eye in April after his wife Eva, 44, was caught trying to smuggle heroin and crack into a function at London’s American embassy. When £10m home the couple share with their four children in exclusive Cadogan Place, Chelsea, was then searched, officers found more crack and heroin - and £2,000 worth of cocaine, enough to fuel a whole nightclub full of drug-users.

But at Westminster magistrates court yesterday, it was revealed that all charges against the couple are being dropped after a ‘protracted correspondence’ between their lawyers and the Crown Prosecution Service. Instead, they are each to accept a ‘conditional caution’…They will not even have criminal records. Mrs Rausing is the daughter of a wealthy Pepsi-Cola executive.

This movie was filmed in Guam last year using entirely local talent and has been in the production phase until just recently. The film is now complete, the trailer is up, and the premier is scheduled for the 2nd or 3rd week of September in Guam. After premiering on island it’ll enter the film festival circuit. The rest depends on the reception it gets at the festivals, but hopefully it will make its way to a theater near you.

Christian Phillips, 18 years old, is suspected of delivering baskets LSD-laced cookies to about a dozen police departments in Texas. “Our officers took a good whiff and thought they smelled like marijuana,†McGuire said, adding that preliminary tests instead detected traces of LSD.
