I am proud of my country because... Posted By: Tom Cole, M.C., Chairman, July 03, 2008 - 11:12 AM
As we prepare to celebrate Independence Day, I want to invite you to share with us why you are proud of America.
There are thousands of reasons why we as Americans can and should be proud of our country. Ours is a nation that offers opportunity to the humble and comfort to the broken. We are generous with our wealth and take pride in our independence.
Perhaps closer to home you're proud of a teacher who has dedicated their life to reaching and mentoring young children or of a friend or relative who has selflessly volunteered their time in an effort to improve the lives of others.
From our sons and daughters, mothers and fathers serving overseas to protect our liberties, to the homegrown heroes committed to raising families and instilling a sense of honor and duty in the next generation.
Whatever it is that makes you proud of America, we want to hear about it.
Please take a moment during the July 4th celebration to think about what exactly makes you most proud about this great country of ours, and then leave your comment to:
I am proud of my country because...
We will be posting comments to our Blog throughout the holiday weekend.
It is our hope that your comments, and those posted by others, will remind us all, just how fortunate we are to live here in America. We look forward to hearing from you.
Best wishes for a Happy Independence Day!
I'm proud of my country because we are willing to stand up across the world for democracy and people's freedom. We value individuals and their rights...and we stand up for them.

I'm proud of this country for many reasons, but especially for the sacrifice that the men and women of our armed forces are making as they fight for freedom across the world. They are wonderful role models for our country, and I couldn't be more proud of them. Happy Independence Day!

we are a generous and loving country whose people are willing to help those other countries who are in need. Whether it be aiding another country gain democracy and ridding them of tyrants, or helping a country in need after a disaster, we are a generous people.

I am proud of my country, and I daily reflect on the gifts our founders gave us, starting with the Declaration of Independence, which was truly a stroke of the pen heard scratching around the world. It was more powerful than any firearm.
Our history resonates so strongly because it's based on principle: The principle of equality, the principles of guaranteed rights and the practice of equal justice before the law. Our country prevailed in that insurgent struggle against King George because we believed so strongly in those principles, which also helped us win allies in Old Europe countries like France.
As a registered republican, what do I reflect on this Fourth of July? I reflect on the fact that the republican leadership has trampled those founding principles. George Washington famously refused to allow any sort of mistreatment of redcoat prisoners, despite the fact that the British were torturing American prisoners as terrorists.
I am ashamed that the republican party supports torture. Waterboarding is torture. I will volunteer to waterboard anyone who believes it is not. It is a war crime.
I am ashamed that the republican party continues to support through silence the practice of extraordinary rendition, where we turn over prisoners to brutal third world governments so that those prisoners can be tortured even more aggressively than we are willing to.
I am ashamed that the republican party continues to support illegal wiretapping. It is a violation of our constitution.
I am ashamed that the republican party continues to support the destruction of habeous corpus rights of Guantonamo prisoners. It is a violation of our sacred principles and 900 year old legal tradition.
On this July the Fourth, I will reflect on all of these things and try to understand why our leaders are willing to betray so many of our principles.

I was so very proud of my country when I witnessed the generosity and help that thousands of Americans gave to our fellow citizens during the recent flooding in the Midwest. Once again the generosity of Americans was so evident. We are indeed a nation of loving, kind and generous people. And I am so proud to call myself an American!

I am proud of my country for the principles on which it was established. Among those principles are individual freedom, capitalism, freedom to pursue happiness and riches, freedom from oppressive government, ability to practice my religion no matter what it is, representative government, civilian control of the military.

I am proud of my country because like no other country in the world the United States of America has fought to liberate millions without asking for anything in return except, as stated by Colin Powell, sufficient land to bury our dead.

I am proud of my country because we have the best form of government formed by the Constitution of the United States of America. We have the freedom to make our own choices, work where we please and raise our families in our own way. Having lived in many foreign countries I say they are a fine place to visit, but I would never want to live there. People don't realize this unless they have lived abroad and not just visited. We have the most beautiful country in the world with great resources and we can become independent at the drop of a hat. Let's keep putting America First...Have a great Independence Day and remember what we are celebrating --the signing of that great document the Declaration of Independence. God Bless America.

When I think about the unselfish and humanitarian nature of the American people, my skin tingles. No other country has made such a difference in the world or set such a good example for others. Our generosity is endless and our willingness to die for the freedom and protection of our citizens and other downtrodden people of the world is beyond heroic. It's too bad that our country is plagued by socialist forces that infect our children and deny them the understanding of these truths and undermine their pride in the accomplishments and basic goodness of the American people and our country. Those of us, who have served and sacrificed the most for her, are her biggest admirers.

I am proud of my country because as a nation we stand for what is right rather than what is politically correct or popular. Our Founding Fathers were so gifted as individuals that it can only be by divine providence that they were all in the same place at that time. As a ntiona we should honor and respect their wisdom and their collective genius and make every effort to preserve what they selflessly gave us as a legacy.

I am proud of my country because we were founded upon the principles of God-given rights and have not wavered from those principles -- even though some continue to insist that the government withdraw those rights and treat our rights as 'gifts from the government' that can be withdrawn. I am proud of my country because we never hesitate to stand up for the oppressed of the world -- even though some continue to insist that we should become the oppressed by allowing law-breaking aliens to trample our laws. I am proud of my country because we STILL have the freedom to meet and worship our God as we see fit -- even though some would have the government remove that right as well. I am proud of my country because we STILL have the best and the brightest of our next generation willing to stand up and be counted, to sacrifice their blood, sweat, and tears -- even though some would cower behind their 'peacenik' agenda and insist that 'they do support our troops' while at the same time attempting to withhold support and funding from our military. I am proud of my country because we are STILL the light on the hill, the last, best hope of the world.

I am proud of my country because despite the efforts of Democrats to destroy the constitution & our history, aided by far too many Republicans walking lock step with them, ordinary Americans still teach our children the values & true scope of our type of government. We are a constitutional republic, not a democracy. Founded on the inalienable rights from our Creator, not granted by an out of touch congress and ordained by a despotic judiciary. I am PROUD of my country because we are the Last Best Hope of the World! The Founding Fathers were so incredibly intelligent, and foresaw so much that they covered most possibilities in our Declaration of Independence and Constitution.
We are hard working, generous, inovative, and brave, with the best and brightest military ever.
We have the right to say what we want, and our military that will fight to protect that right.
Happy Independence Day!

I am more proud of my ancestors who left their homeland to settle here. The sacrifices they made, the heartache of leaving loved ones behind, the ground work they did for us today and their hard work of making this country the way it has become--freedom.

I am proud of my country because it was a country given to us by Almighty God and as His plan and purpose was revealed through our Founding Fathers we have been able to stand proud and strong before the world as a country that has stayed true to those founding principles. Some of our old songs said it so well, the land of the free and the home of the brave. WE have had men and women over the years willing to lay down their lives to protect those freedoms and all we have stood for but it does sadden my heart as I see those freedoms today being used to burn our flag, mock our president, turn its back on the sanctity of life and redefined to suit their own purpose our beloved Constitution.
We need to bring back to the memories of those whom seem to have forgotten exactly why we are so proud of these united States of America. We need to listen to the words of the Star Spangled Banner, the Pledge of Allegiance to our Flag, Lincoln's Gettysburg Address, the anthems of each branch of our armed forces, and songs written that blessed America. These all put together are why we stand straight and proud to be called Americans! As long as there are those of us that still remember we will continue to be blessed by God and no other power on earth can take that away. May I close with one last thought, "If My people who are called by My Name shall humble themselves, seek My Face and pray, then will I heal their land."

I am proud of my country because it stands among an ocean of socialist/communist dictatorships as a truly free nation, where representative government serves the people, rather than the people serving IT. The U.S. has long been a refuge for those who want to escape from communist oppression, as expressed on the base of the Statue of Liberty: "Give me your tired your poor, your hungry masses yearning to be free." I'm also proud of our judeo-christian heritage. Our laws were based on the mosaic law, the ten commandments, and although we have freedom OF; not freedom FROM religion, the declaration of Independence states 'we are endowed by our Creator with certain unalienable rights."
Let's pray that we don't see in our lifetime our very own government take those God given rights away.
God bless America!

I am proud of my country because we still have the right to free speech, within the guidelines of responsibility. We still have the right to bring our children up in the ways of our Lord and Savior. We still have the right to direct their education, which is why we still may yet retake our country from the socialist fascist activists who have nothing better to do than to try to bring us down. In your free time this 4th of July, settle down with a good book or two, and celebrate our freedoms. Here's a shameless plug for two of the best I've read, EVER, besides the Bible. :) I am in no way related to, nor do I have any stake whatsoever in, Karen Kingsbury or her literary fortunes -- but she's written two books that will make you stop and think HARD about why our country is so great. 'Even Now' and 'Ever After' will make you proud to be an American.

I am proud of the United States because she has stood for doing what is right, for living in peace while still willing to fight to defend her freedoms. She has afforded opportunity to so many who would not have had it otherwise. No, the American people are not perfect; we have made mistakes, but we admit our sins and try to make them right. Our forward-thinking, never-say-die spirit, is what makes this country great. She is the last, best hope of this old world, and I love her!

I am proud to be an American because we can agree to disagree without being malicious. We can love those who feel differently about things than we do. For instance, should we really give habeus corpus rights to Guantanamo inmates? Aren't they terrorists? Do we give terrorists rights? They would just as soon kill you as look at you just because you're an American. We are not the bad guy. We are a generous people who send billions of dollars in aid to those in need around the world without a second thought. We stand up for those who can't stand up for themselves. We believe that the founding fathers of this nation had it right. Freedom of speech, religion, the right to bear arms. Freedom of the press. Welcoming people from every country, who enter legally, to become a part of our great nation. That is what diversity truly is. All nations coming together under one flag, living in freedom. How much richer are we, culturally, for that? STOLL

I am proud of Americans who are standing up against an increasingly tyrannous government. Proud to say the we will not allow politicians of any party to scare us into giving away our rights (gun rights, rights to privacy and rights to free speech). I'm very proud of lifelong Republicans who have been willing to risk their reputations to stand up to a party that has forgotten it's principles and embraced a tyrannous and invasive government.

We will lose what we have enjoyed because there has been a subversion in the School House to pass socialism to the younger generation. What happenned to the Majority Rule, Why is there a minority that is allowing to decay to grow? Chicken Little has

We are free to work if, when, and where we choose- and we are free to choose how much or little we work. We are free to choose religion, or to choose no religion. We are free to choose to vote for whomever we wish, or to not vote at all. We are even free to choose to thank the men and women who keep us safe, and free to choose to condemn them.

I am proud of my country, that is in spite of it being run by a bunch of idiots in Washington and a bunch of liberal justices who try to write the law in lieu of interpreting it. We have to right to do many things which are not permitted in many other countries. A country that allows fools in drag proclaiming their gayness going into and mocking the Catholic church and a mayor who loudly proclaims gays rights to marriage in spite of the law that the people voted for to not allow in the first place. We can have our elected officials tell us that wiretapping and torture are hideous crimes even though our enemies have no problem killing our people with no outcry from their people. I feel sorry for all the men and women who fought so hard for our freedoms over the last 200 years only to have it trashed by a bunch of left wing losers. This is no longer the UNITED states but the DIVIDED territories that have their civil liberties threatened each day by power mad fools in washington who only care about themselves and not the people who put them there in the first place...Our forefathers are turning in their graves knowing that we have made a mockery of the constitution and it is no longer "for the people, by the people and of the people" but for the elite minorities, by the elected fools and no people considered...I question whether or not this day is now worth celebrating...The only hope is that OUR FATHER in Heaven is protecting us from ourselves...

America gave my family the chance to access all the good things that America has to offer by not permitting us to establish a parallell society based exculsivly on the culture of the "old country." Instead, with effort and determination my parents learned English and worked hard. My father joined the Army, and helped save Europe (his "old country") by landing at Normandy and liberating the Buchenwald death camp. I live in Italy now and I am especially proud of America and all it has done to sustain a sometimes very ungrateful contintent.

We can confiscate, impound, and foreclose on 25-35% of the whole planets natural resources for ourselves whilst we leave our own countries inventories unexplored and supplies untouched and not one other Country can do anything about it.
A young Black Man with an affirmative action subsidized college education; no resume, no experience and friends with dozens of known crooked, dishonest, sleazy operators can be nominated as a Presidential Candidate of our Great Country.
An Impeached Convicted Felon Ex-President whom cannot vote is allowed to campaign for his spouse to be a nominee for President of the USA and gets more media air time than six of the other party candidates combined.
A national political party that is so cowardly, gutless and spineless it can sellout it entire constituency, that overwhelmingly endorsed and supported a two time loser for its 2008 Presidential candidate that added 6 trillion dollars of national debt to our country and gets crapped on and trounced daily by the likes of intellectual weaklings Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reed.
A corrupt media that is so blatantly biased toward proven political policies that do not work can promote a worldwide trillion dollar scam and title it climate change something thats occurred every day for the past one million years without any opposition whatsoever.
There are dozens of reasons I am proud of my country and those listed above are just a few currently on the top of my mind.

I am proud of my country because - though we are not perfect, the Christian principles it's charters were founded upon still exist today, and are still protected today, because they are based upon justice, freedom, understanding, and compassion, not intolerance, violence or oppression. That with all the threats opposed to our constitution and beliefs, and all the efforts aimed at changing them, we still stand blessed and committed to them today.

I am proud of my country for many reasons the big and the small. And I am grateful to all those that either serve or have served in the military to allow me to enjoy my freedoms.
I am proud that my country helps others, yet gets little to no credit for it. I am proud that we will do what is right even if it is painful.
I am proud that I can drive myself, that I can demand that car salesmen speak to me and not my husband. I am proud because I can work where I want and do what I want and still go home and crochet because I like to not because it is woman's work.

I am proud of my country because my family, each generation since 1682 has fought and some died for the constitution, the freedom and faith, the heritage and culture of this country....And in spite of 545 people in Washington, most who would give this country away in a NY second to feather their own pocketbooks, American citizens are still willing to die for it. Those citizens, who Obama disparages, built this country, and will still fight to keep for American citizens and their descendants. Vote the power hungry politicians out, and replace them with those who themselves would die for our country.

I am proud of our country. It is a privilege to be able to speak, to work, to live, to love, and to serve with the freedom to do so in the manner of my choosing. I am so very proud of the men and women who serve in the United States military and thank God for them every day. They are so awesome, so talented, so humble, and so qualified and motivated. I try to thank every one I see in airports, on city streets. And last week I thanked a man age 85 who flew B-17s many years ago. He almost cried. May they know how much we love and admire them.

I am proud of our country because we are a can-do nation. We get things done, often for others, and don't ask for anything in return. This country is based on freedom, princples, and sacrifice. Although we are not perfect, we must be doing something right because a good deal of the world wants to emigrate here. And we manage to do all of this in spite of constant criticism from the likes of the UN and obstruction by politicians like Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi.

I am proud to be an American because this is the only county to whom God gave His Constitution based upon His own Word.
But sad to say, we are in the midst of Gods rage at us for daily killing some 3500 of His babies every day. When we totally repent of this daily massacre against His innocent blood, He will again sooth the storms, the draughts, the water shortage, the rising gas prices, the loss of our dollar value, the loss of our jobs, the infiltration of Muslim terrorists, of drug lords, our environmentalists, our sex perverts who want to use our children as their sex toys, the destruction of our families of opposite sex, the jailing of more and more of out citizens, our inability to put up a wall to protect us against illegal aliens, drug lords, and assassins of Islam, the ruling of our treasonous judges and politicians, the killing of our young people in foreign wars, the daily killing of our children, teenagers, senior citizens, and adults on our streets, in their homes, and in their cars. All this because of the innocent blood which defiles our land. Any concordance will give the Bible references to these words. The only hope we have is in a total unconditional revival back Gods Word which our forefathers used to create our Constitution which the liberals now use against everything that is Godly and which God can bless.
After we repent, we need a statue before every court house showing a young married couple raising their new born infant to God as a promise that we will never again kill His babies.
That this total repentance and revival as was in Nineveh of Jonahs Iraq is possible makes America great.
Otherwise we will continue to destroy ourselves. See Hosea 13: 9. My web page at has free Bible tracts and sermons and much more. I do not want to leave a dying, self destroying America to the descendents of my 22 grandchildren. If we do not put the Ten Commandments back into every classroom and court room and the Bible back into every classroom, evolutionists will continue to turn our children into animals who have less and less respect for life. And we will have anarchy until our wimps turn us over to the Shariah law of Islam.

We Hope those we have put in charge of such things will promote Lower Gas prices, knowing full well that everyone with any power is "In the Pocket" of big oil and Nothing will ever be done! We Hope that someone will figure out exactly Where all these Muslims are coming from that are taking over Our Country... I mean, talk about Immigration ! Has anyone looked at Their Numbers Lately? I'm proud of my country because despite her flaws she is still the greatest nation on the planet.
Yes, there is an agenda to take her over for socialism/communism but if God will still bless America this can be stopped.
If we return to the roots of trust in God, hard work and personal responsibility that made this country great we will see the return of that greatness and prosperity.
If we continue our current path I am afraid that we are headed for a much less nobler state. May God have mercy on us.
Let me make 08 politics simple for you. Any protest vote, conscious vote or no vote is a vote for Leftist socialist policies. It's that simple.
If you want to keep having a country to be proud of then your duty is before you and your path to fulfilling that duty is clear. Vote Republican at all levels from local to national.

Making a living was a trying experience with drought always at our door step. Along came the 40's with a war to win but finally God provided the rains so food could win the war. I am proud of my country because we don't take our greatness for granted.
It is with determination and humility that we face our daily tasks. It is with the spirit of a free people that we risk all for others. We are not afraid to worship and ask forgivness.
Nor are we intimidated by the threats of others. And, at the end of the day we enjoy our pusuits secure in the knowledge that we do not face tyranny and oppression.
It is with these thoughts that we can commune without communism, and rule without rulers.
So, as we celebrate this day let us remember those who made it all possible.

I am proud of my country because of the American People, the average Joe and Jane who love God, family and hard work, who aren't too busy to help a neighbor, a stranger or a stray animal, or give to charity. They are not afraid to serve their country or sacrifice their lives defending our freedoms or the freedoms of others.
We are proud yes, and also humble because we know the cost, the price of freedom. We know the diligence and hard work required to hold on to the priviledges we take for granted, our freedom of worship, speech, for our Declaration of Independence Constitution, our Bill of Rights. These values and tangibles made our country the great country it is today and only the grace of God and our continued diligent hard work will insure our beloved USA continuing for our children and those that follow them.
My friends please take the time, go to a quiet place, sit or kneel and thank God daily, because if not for His divine guidance, love and promises we would not exist to enjoy these precious gifts today.

I am proud of my country because I am the granddaughter of a grandfather who came to this country in 1912 through Ellis Island (LEGALLY); who was a member of the original Air Force; who was part of the the original VFW; who was father to three sons who all served our great country; who was grandfather to a Viet Nam Veteran.

I am proud of this country because of all we do for everyone everywhere. I am proud of our military in all they do and how we protect our fellow man from tirany. We stand up for whats right no matter the repercussions. We live in a country where you can go as far as your dreams and hard work can take you. We live in the best country in this world! I am proud of my country because we are free to worship as we please, free to vote our choices and free to encourage our children to attempt all that they are capable of accomplishing. Let's forever praise God for all the blessings that we enjoy.

There are many things of which Americans can and should be proud. An excellent summary statement was made a couple of years ago by the British Prime Minister (to the effect)
A good overall measure of a country's greatness and quality is whether people are trying to get in or get out!
No matter what you read in the papers and hear on the TV. we are the envy of the world. I live and teach in Russia, among other things I spend several hours and give every one of my students a copy of the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution.
I wish I was confident that American students were receiving as much attention.

I am proud of my country. Proud of what it has been, and proud of what it can hopefully be once again. I, who was a proud Republican, am now ashamed of our leadership and the party which has abandoned its conservative principles and its base to embrace the centrists.
It sickens me that I must almost hold my nose to vote for a candidate that has insulted and name called anyone in the party that is against illegal immigration and against any "path to citizenship" for those that have broken our laws just by being here.
I supported this once proud party for many years. I stood by and behind our leaders. Now I feel betrayed. I HAVE been betrayed. By our leadership, by our party. I love my country. I offered my life to it in the service. I do not know what is in our future. I can only hope and pray that my country will return to those principles upon which it was built.

I am proud of my country because I know its history, I've read the stories of past Americans in other families and in my own. I cannot understand why they no longer teach in our schools about our great past and the sacrifices so many made for the freedoms we enjoy. American history is the most exciting story ever told. Today is my birthday. I missed being a 4th of July girl, by 2 hours.
I salute our troops and the flag they carry; long may she wave...

I am proud of my country because without my country, I am one with nature and yet without a heart to fight for what is right-to fight for liberty and freedom. Without my country, I am true prophet and yet I will have to fight the injustice alone. And the guiding light of GOD THE FATHER guide me back to the country where I can prosper and to live with the people, to face the difficulties in life, and yet never give up and never give in. I can feel that I am not alone in fighting to protect this country we love, called America. May God the father bless us all.

I am proud of my country because we are the one and only UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. We are a country of diverse peoples with differences on religions, wars, social matters but a country that will free slaves, help feed children worldwide, work to stamp out piracy and prostitution. The freedom to educate, print, speak, and even work as we so desire and which is coveted worldwide makes me very proud of my country.

I'm proud of America because she allowed me the privelege of serving in her Army for over 21 years.
America is the greatest country on earth; why, in spite of all the criticism of this country, do more people want to come here than to any other country? Because it is the best.

I am proud of my country. Period. Every time I travel I recognize again how our Christian heritage has helped form our country. And every time I am disgusted over the extremely liberal voices shouting anti everything comments, I am reminded that in most places on this warming globe, no shouting would be allowed.Only here. And this freedom of speech has come at a high price. So I'm thankful as well as proud.

I am also proud of my country because or Constitution has stood the test time, guaranteeing every citizen fundamental rights, many of which are only dreams in other parts of the world.

our God given freedoms we have in this beloved country!
Dennis, I am a FORMER Democrat, it sickens me that the IMMORAL LIBERALS are ruining this beloved country of ours with their IMMORAL GODLESS stand for ILLEGAL immigrants, HOMOSEXUALITY, ABORTION ETC!
I changed parties as the very 1st time I ever laid eyes on Clinton, the Spirit of God told me he is a PHONEY~!
As I grew in the Wisdom & Word of God,
my heart & my stinking thinking was changed, therefore I changed from demoncrat to Republican, even tho I do NOT agree with everything the Repulican Party has done, it is by far
the better of the 2! There is for the most part MORE MORAL Republicans than there are IMMORAL ones!
BLESSED is the NATION WHOSE GOD IS THE LORD!

Because despite the information ignored by the media and both parties, our troops accomplished miracles in Iraq, LIKE: Electricity: 1,420 megawatts for 280,000 homes - Oil production : 2.5 million barrels per day = $85 trillion dollars per year [where is the money?] Water treatment capacity: 226,000 cu meters per day - Hospitals Over 11 of 20 hospitals renovated - Schools - 834 opened for over 325,000 students - Police facilities: Over 342 of 399 police facilities completed - Border Forts:248 of 253 reinforced border forts completed - 217 km of 424 km of village roads paved - A 911 emerg resp dispatch systfor 12 mn Iraqis in 15 cities. WHY HAS EVERYONE IGNORED THIS? WHY ARE WE KEPT IN A FOG?

We are proud to be Americans. It is truly the land of our fore-fathers who have bled and died for their families and future generations as well.
It is a country where self-absorbed people can be called to action with just a hint of trouble, whether it is defense, helping fellow countrymen caught in the worst of circumstances - natural disasters, or even help others in foreign countries where people seem to be abandoned by their government. we are by nature people of compassion
We are a country which has been blessed by God, but we must remember that all that we, as a country, are accountable for, is ours only as long as we remember the source of our blessings. We cannot and must not forget. That is the yeast of life that has produced this wonderful land that we call home.

I'm Proud of my country because I was fortunate enought to be born into this great country and most important I was trained to love it. I was a cub scout, boy scout, Demolay, and vietnam vet which all taught me the importance of knowing what being civilized is and how to be a civilized person. This training doesn't seem to be as important today which is a big loss for our country. There is way to much negative training and political correctness. You don't wake up one morning knowing how to abide by rules, regualtions, laws and knowing how to live within gods word and our laws.

That is what makes me proud to be Amercian and even more proud of those who sacrifice at home and abroad for those very same desires.to

I am very proud that our sons and daughters are so willing to sacrifice their lives in order to ensure the freedoms of their fellow countrymen. Recently in Iraq, I met a young man in his early 20s. He was a reservist who had a thriving construction business. He gave up over $140,000 on a profitable contract and closed the doors on his company in order to be paid next to nothing as a Lance Corporal of Marines (E-3) when his country called upon him. He did his tour successfully in Iraq and is now home. When asked why he did it, (the military allows exceptions for situations like his) he replied, "That's what I signed up to do. I made a commitment." Where do these extraordinary young people come from? Heaven knows.

I am proud of the USA because of the brave men and women who fought and those who gave their lives for the freedom of all people around the globe. Our military is an all voluntary force that is the best in the world.
We are the most generous nation with our wealth, our time, our knowledge, our technology, our prayers, our sweat, our blood and our very lives to make it possible for all people to have a quality of life. We are the bravest, the strongest, the most compassionate and yes, the most powerful, and we use those traits to ensure a better life for all mankind.
No other nation has progressed to such a degree in such relatively short a period of time.
We embrace different races, religions, faiths, nationalities, customs, politics. All we ask is you embrace our laws.
We right our wrongs.
No one, who is willing to work hard at their goal or dream for their future, will fail in the United States of America.

I am proud of the USA because we take action for the oppressed and suffering. In spite of treachery and the undermining of our efforts we tread on. Although we stand alone we endure. Enemies within and without fail to hinder our goals. We are the easy target. We are the object of redicule and disdain. We are hated. Yet we still rise to the call. Even if its not given or suppressed. We continue albeit drain our reasourses and financially strain our citizens. We stand and deliver in the face of evil's cruelty. We admit our errors and decline to boast when we're right. We celebrate the accomplishments of others. We are the rich uncle and comforting mother. We do all of this with citizens who voluntarily donate, sacrifice, and offer everything they have to give; their very lives. I now have a broken mind and body for service to my country and the best part is, I'd gladly do it all over again.
