Geek Building The Bridge Part 2

So after a month of warming up using the One Post Per Day campaign, and after two weeks of hardwork for the theme, we finally launch this site. Please, give a warm applause to: Navinot, IT knowledge to the power of two!

We, Ivan (of MangoAddict.com) and I, have been waiting for this site since July. I felt the click, he felt the click, and that’s it. Navinot was born. Navinot, for me would be a skill power up site. It requires a new standard for me to meet. It will be a lot of learning along the future.

But what important is, there are things for you. It’s not all about Ivan and me of course. There’s so much more for you, my beloved friends and readers. Imagine Navinot as a TC, RWW, Mashable or GigaOm in Indonesian. Navinot will try to present you applicable knowledge, news, interviews and so much more related to the fun world and neverending story of Internet. That way, hopefully we can be more a benefit and a close friend for you.

Got an ephipany. I can write something. Recently, I’ve been thinking on why am I suddenly crossing into social and economic/marketing side of the internet. Coming from technical background, the root of why Social is interesting would have been the mashup part. An the economic and marketing stuff may come up because I want to build something on my own feet. It’s a necessity to validates myself and thoughts. Yet, I cannot still believe how far away I am from what I had been before migrating to Jakarta.

I don’t write nor play with much code anymore. New libraries and frameworks are just news and not for touching. I left OSNews and Slashdot, read more on RWW and friends. Why? It doesn’t mean that I don’t love Javascript or PHP anymore. PHP is my bread and butter, literally.

I suspect it’s time management that has casted me on this stranger land. A world where I must crawl again to carve my existence. I feel very “bloon” in this side of the cyber. The one hour to go to office and another hour to go home left me with no energy but to read. And reading is what I’ve been doing. No code involved so mind twisting and logic bending is the new toy.

Maybe it will get me somewhere. But I’m quite afraid that I’ll end up having no speciality as I’ve come late in the race. Everyone is running and I am still looking for my shoe.

Is this really the world I want to be? Is this the world I meant to be?

Semua yang tidak orisinil salah. Padahal Google juga tidak orisinal, tapi kita tak pernah bilang dia salah. Lain halnya jika Microsoft membuat produk baru. OMG, label copy cat pasti akan segera dilekatkan di jidat mereka.

Apa yang salah dengan meniru. Mungkin yang salah adalah cara meniru dan bukan pilihan meniru. Meniru adalah langkah pertama dalam proses belajar. Seperti halnya bayi yang meniru orang tua. Pada akhirnya, saat dewasa, mereka akan menentukan untuk kembali meniru orang tua atau belajar dari sejarah dan kemudian membuat sejarah tersendiri. Akan tetapi selalu saja, dan selalu berulang, dimulai dari proses meniru.

As a side note, this is one draft I’ve never managed to complete. It didn’t reside long in my docs. I’m either tired or furious today. I’m feeling like bloggin something so I guess I’m gotta use this stored draft to feed my whatever. My furiosity negates the positive point I want to deliver here, but well, you can dig it yourself if you really want to. Full is empty, empty is full.
