This is now on my wall in a very proment place.
Payton's "Prity Flowrs"
Payton and her Mom
Some days are more special than others. Today was one of those special days. I have been the recipient of two acts of kindness.
While I was sitting outside this morning enjoying the start of my day with a cup of coffee. A young neighbor girl from across the way came out of her building carefully carrying a plate. It was kind of early and she caught my eye, and as I watched her purposely walking down the stairs and across the drive I realized she was coming toward me. She seems to be around 6 or 7 years old and was wearing a pretty little pink dress. As she walked up I saw what it was she was had one the plate, two cinnamon rolls! She told me they were for me. I almost cried! I thanked her for being so kind and that I really appreciated her generosity. She smiled, turned around and walked back home.
I thought to myself what a wonderful way to start a day. Her simple act of kindness put a smile on my face and warmth in my heart. That glow stayed with me the entire day.
Well, now I get to the second act of kindness. I guess she and her mother have adopted me as there new apartment grandmother. Because tonight my doorbell rang and there she was holding the sweetest picture and told me she had colored it for me! It has a curled up little kitty, a bird and some flowers on it and the words, "Prity Flowrs"
I asked her what her name was and she told me Payton, this darling little girl has just made me one of the happiest people in the world tonight. I decided I had to share this sweet story with the rest of the world so they could share in my moment.
Her Mother is raising a very kind and compassionate little girl and I applaud her for it. Thank you very much Peyton's Mom. And a special thanks to you Payton for making me feel like the world is a good place.
This just makes me teary eyed. What a sweet little girl!
Yes, she is, indeed.
Rottlady, old ladies make me cookies and give me chocolate.
backroads, we are lucky people indeed!
What a great story compared to the Pligth of the USA!
I LOVE days that start that way!
I hope and pray she can keep her sweet nature and values as an grown up.
I do too, as a matter of fact today had a good start to it. Payton and her mother were leaving this morning and she walks across the parking lot just to give me a hug! Wow, I love this little angel. Been smiling ever since.
I cannot think of a better way to start the day! It is so nice to hear about affectionate and generous children, she is going to grow into such a nice young lady :) Especially now that she had a surrogate grandma!
Tonight I have posted a new picture. I can see where she gets her lovely smile.
Oh, how nice of them to let you share a picture with all of us! Yay Payton & her mom!
I am so proud of these two young ladies. They have been through some rough times and can still find it in their hearts to be kind to a stranger and make a friend of that person. I have know them both a long time and am constantly proud of them and blessed they are in my life. Enjoy. with all my love, Grandma Deb
Grandma Deb as you can see we all agree these are some special young ladies indeed. I am so glad I have met them. The world is a richer place with them in it. Thank you so much for your comment and for joining our conversation here.
How wonderful! I am sure this is just the beginning of a wonderful relationship for the three of you! What a wonderful way to start, and end, the day :)
It was a great day all day actually. I just copied this page and took her a copy. It is confirmed she is 6 and is starting 2nd grade Monday. Her Mom was pleased by the article and I even got a hug from both them! Hooray!!!
Hugs are always good!
That is so good, it just shows that basically most people are still kind and caring. If only the various governments were, as well.
Thanks for your comment Sandie. I do believe most people have good in them, especially the children!
Sweet Fennel for sure! You are a lucky lady. :) What a gift this child is.
She has the sweetest little smile, I'm going to see if her Mom will let me take her picture and post it.
I am a lucky lady for sure!
That little girl's mother should be very proud. A woman who raises a daughter like that should be congratulated. :)
You know that's what I thought, that is why I just climbed three flights of stairs to meet her. Dang, by the time I was at the top, I was wishing she lived on the ground floor. *smiling and tired now*
rottlady,
I guess a big old guy like me is not supposed to be touched by sweet tales such as this. But what can you expect from a 270 pound bear that tears up still when he is watching a Lassie film. Two years ago I moved into the apartment complex that I now live in. The Maintenance man Carl, who is a young man in his early 30's, will not only come by to give me some food that he has bought, but will cook it for me. He is a great cook. If the world was made up of your little girl and Carls we would sure be a lot better off. And I'll add little girls like your little girl, Carls and rottladies.
Ira thanks for your sweet sweet comment, I'm just a case of teary eyes and full heart right now.
God Bless all the kind people in the world!
RL-
Remember the baseball metaphor? Would you say a pinch hitter just knocked one over the fence for the home team? Congrats on being blessed by the hand of fate.
I very much like the metaphor. So true! Thanks
I want to like the metaphor too but I don't understand it. Who is the pinch hitter, what is the fence, and who is the home team?
Well to me it meant a little girl stepped out of her own little world and did something very nice for a complete stranger.
But isn't a pinch hitter a member of a team, known by all on the team?
Thats why they call it a metaphor, its not an exact translation. But the meaning behind it is understood. To me, the team would be humanity, or all of us here reading this wonderful story.
That's one of the reasons they call it a metaphor. Another is that it suggests a strong resemblance.
Wow, kids you got to luv'em, I am so glad your day started so nice and stayed that way and for you sharing the R.A.C.R. (Random Act of Cinnamon Rollness). :)
Hope you have many more!
Aloha Rottlady
Oh I like that, I'm going to remember that one! Thanks
What A nice little family unit, you are blessed to have such sweeties living so close Rottlady, they're picture put a smile on my mug! :)
Aloha
Thanks and I'm glad I could share good smiles.
Ain't kids great... All full of giving.
Almost makes me want one.....almost *never mind, I'll just keep watching the neighbors kids*
That was a wonderful story. You are blessed with this special family as a neighbor.
As a reminder it is within all of us to do random acts of kindness for others as well.
Keep us informed about this special little girl.
Thanks for your kind comment and for posting your marker on my map.
Thanks rottlady, I got you on my watchlist. I like seeing things on the sunny side.
As I said before, we all should take every opportunity to do special RAKs.
I make it a point when I am at the store with lots of things in my basket, if someone comes up to wait in line behind me that only has a couple of things in their hands; I ask them to go ahead of me. You can't believe the happiness this causes. They usually are already resigned to waiting in line and are so happy when I offer this chance to go first.
I know it is a simple thing to do, and you would think people would do this on a regular basis as a simple courtesy. But really most do not. It just seems the right thing to do.
Try it and see how people react, it is so nice to make someones day.
Thanks for posting this rottlady. I've been so bogged down with such crazy and often harsh political stuff on the vine tonight that it was refreshing to read this and bring life back to the moment. Honestly, thank you. This was exactly what I needed to put things in perspective.
Actually you got it all wrong, I had to write this as it was too special to not share.
Lovely story Elizabeth! It was the perfect way to end my day!
It's my gift to you m'lady!
This is why I love children. They are the only people that tend to surprise me...and I love good surprises.
People think I am cheesy but some of my best days on this planet are because of children like Peyton. I previously worked with a group of my friends in a municipal setting. My office happened to be located in one of the city's community centers. During the summer, the community center houses one of the summer camps. One of my friends who I worked with has a little girl who at the time was attending the camp. I heard her come into the office area and asked if she could come back to see me...and she presented me with an AWESOME hand-drawn picture. I was so flipping thrilled...so I hung it up right on my wall as she stood there. She had the biggest smile on her face. So she made my day and I made hers. It stayed on my wall with my other pieces of work I ended up receiving from the kids until I left that job. I still have all of my pieces of art.
One moment in time in a child's life can forever change them...I intend to make my moments change them for the better.
I gotta tell you the hug I got from that little girl when I visited tonight was just so special. Made me feel like I could conquer the world. Thanks for your personal story.
Prity wonderful she's quite an artist. It's nice that the love given to you carries over to us too! ♡
Yes she is a Prity nice little girl too! *I'm smiling Again*
It is amazing how far a smile can travel.
That smile has travelled all the way across the Atlantic Ocean, and across most of the Southern half of the United Kingdom to reach me, Rottlady. :O)
Thanks for sharing. Positive stories like this need to be shared more often.
I so agree with you there. Thanks
Aw, RL: That is delightful. You'll be smiling for days and days thinking of that. What a nice little kid!
Thanks for brightening our day by telling us about it. I love the coloring.
She really did a nice job on the picture, didn't she! Thanks
A perfect way to start my day and a reminder how easy it is to make someone else's day. Thanks for sharing this with us Elizabeth. (Your Kansas cousin!)
Pam, Wow this is great! Welcome cousin. Thanks so much for your kind comment and email.
Stick around here and you will find lots of good stories and some very kind people. As a matter of fact, click on anybody's name on this page and you will find something good to read!
I'm sending you a friends request now!
Hah! I see you beat me to the Friends request. Once again welcome Pam!
rottlady, Glad you have a little guardian angel, bring her with you when you visit. Bernice & I have had our grandchildren since T's surgery day when I drove by his place. Kids are great in fact even our own have made gigantic leaps this last year. You be careful on those steps and thank God he sent you one. JOE
Thanks for the invite Joe, I would love to visit. On those steps...I won't be climbing them for a while that's for sure! Steps and canes really don't get along well!
I'm glad you are enjoying the grandhildren's visit. I bet they are too!
yes rottlady, we won't give them backLOL, once we got them here when we left Olympia we told Evan and Jenn that it was a one way trip on our part, againLOL. The county fair starts the 25th so I expect them to drive over for it and their children.(if they can find us and them)
wow, kids and puppies. god gave us both, so that old people like us can know that the future will still have love and kindness, and kids and puppies!!!
thank you so much, luv.
luv,
ron
What a nice comment Ron, thanks for visiting!
Perhaps there is hope for humanity after all!
I like to think so! Thanks Luther.
:D
Thanks Ryan for the big smile!
It's so tragic really. Kiddies are not "born bad", it's mostly adults, older kids, and life that takes away their sweet innocence.
I must be more optimistic or maybe have my head in the sand, Sandie. But I believe there still are a lot of kind adults in this world.
I think as one gets older one becomes more cynical and less trusting of others. Besides, in our capacity as "Citizen Journalists" we tend to seed stories and articles that show the dark side of Human Nature, rather than the Good and Selfless side.
I am going to start another Newsvine Group, and call it:
"Good News Week". I'll clip this article as it's first contribution. Hope it's O.K. with you, Rottlady?
That's more than ok, I'm going to join. Good idea Sandie!
Wonderful story rottlady and what a wonderful little girl. Thanks for sharing, this gave me a smile and brought a tear to my eye as well.
I'm past the tears now, but I still get a warm feeling thinking about her and her mom.
Awww what a great story thanks for sharing it! I hope this leads to a long and happy friendship for all of you, and I look forward to hearing (and seeing) more of the blessings Prity Peyton brings to you. Have a blessed day! I'm after a cuppa now :o) Theresa
I've already had a few cups myself. thanks for stopping by.
I'm one of those weirdos that has to wake up for a bit before I go after my first cup. My hubby drinks a pot before I have my first cup, he always pours me the first cup from the second pot on weekends. :o)
That is so awsome. So nice that things like this really still happen. If all in the world was like this sweet little girl, think how much better this place would be. Congrats new grandma!!LOL
