Thought I was getting on a train. Was out of service instead. 20 minute late. Fuck! http://tinyurl.com/6o7g5c # 2nd out of service double train going north since I got here. Annoying! # Finally a train that is taking people somewhere. # Off the train. Waiting for the cup now, shouldn’t be long. # Finally made it home. Hooray for public transportation! # I’m awake. Building a simple tool to help me out with the stuff that I do daily now, maybe it will make things less frustrating. #

finished writing my weekly MTGO metagame article. going to play a game or two before I have to sleep. # made it to work later than I wanted today for the short day. unfortunately I’m sleepy as hell. time to acquire caffeine. # @mjkeliher one thing that I have done before - make sure that the file ends on an empty line, not at the end of one of your rewrite rules. # seriously considering reinstalling my windows partition and all my stuff this weekend. There’s lots to do before that though. Vista or no? # grr. Hating threading libraries. Intel TBB looks great for highly-parallel, but is crap for “normal” threading it seems. # @mjkeliher yay! Dunkin’ Donuts are yummy. This will be bad for my diet. # Partying like it’s 1995 - reading up on how to work with COM. Any good tutorial pointers would be appreciated. # using one of @wrox press old books for reference. # headed to home, a bit later than I expected but still with plenty of time. #

@pfhyper “This park brought to you by a grant from the P.T. Meyer foundation, The Wallace T. Grant Foundation, Lowes, and patrons like you!” # was going to try out @twitpic this morning, but my login doesn’t seem to work. I guess it will be for another day. # bleh, I keep getting “limit exceeded, paused 5 min” from twhirl. Yet 19/100 requests this hour. thinking of changing pw again. # back from a meeting that went an hour and a half instead of an hour. I think I might try to actually get some stuff done today. # got my computer name at work changed from (uninteligible string of numbers&digits) to “<prefix>-penguin” so that I can remember it. # Just called apartment building, they said that it took 7 hours more to clean the apartment after we were done. I don’t really believe them. # reading about ringtones. now I want Moss’s ringtone from “The IT Crowd” or the radio/in-game “Still Alive” for my ring. # @jojeda that book cover is very pastel, but it is intriguing. Hope the lib. gets one so I can check it out. # Considering buying a PayPal security key now that I learned you can use it with VeriSign PIP to OpenID http://is.gd/1hi8 (via @codinghorror) # hit 50 ‘closed’ stories in cullect. putting a moratorium on using cullect for the rest of the work day. # If I was to apply at your company as a entry-level programmer, what Certifications would you expect? Required, or can I sub experience? # @andyburns anyone on twitter who hears it. I’m just thinking about jobs and stuff, and wondering if I would actually qualify.. # @cullec feature request: when you click on the empty space in a story, move the ‘cursor’ to that story. # @jojeda I think that version is much better! # heading home from work. long day. phew. # I think I like yahoo maps better than google maps. It seems snappier and such. #

at work. filled up the car this morning and have spare $ in the gas budget, considering getting fast food for dinner even though should save # cullect is very snappy and responsive today. I hope it is because of the new accelerator and not because it lost customers :(# @magickalrealism I’ll put that $8 in the pile for the new couch then, we’ll have it April next year :P# google calculator should work with dates too, like “20 weeks from today” or “third sunday of march”. it would be nifty. # @computersaurus I highly recommend stevia - it’s all natural sweetener and doesn’t taste like chemicals. # heading to the DMV office to get my license renewed and then home #

watching one last episode of west wing before I go to sleep. need to get more stuff done tomorrow. # made it to work about half an hour later than I wanted to be. trying to motivate myself to do some of the things on my todo list. # one hour to a meeting with people that I haven’t met with in a while, and I’m really tired. thinking about getting some caffeine. # reading about exception handling and thinking of moving away from ZThread library and implementing what I need myself on top of boost:thread # heading to pay the last rent check, and return the keys, for the previous apartment. # wooohooo! cullect has returned #

Day 3: I’m starting to hit ‘h’ compulsively now. Hopelessly out of the loop on everything gadget-y or tech-y. Hearing phantom podcasts. # At work today for the last day of work. Tomorrow is the first day of travelling to the U from the new place. I need to go there more. # @cullect thanks for the updates. Best handling of an ‘availability event’ I’ve seen so far. # @RobertFischer I recommend http://cullect.com - try it tomorrow, it’ll be back up and awesome. # @RobertFischer Not that I know of, but I might make one if it’s not too complex. # @RobertFischer Cullect does have OPML import though, which helps in migrating from Google Reader or another reader. # @RobertFischer Make your Caps Lock useful! Defy those keyboard manufacturers! http://is.gd/1avO # @arikjones Hell yes! I emailed about this to them over a year ago, finally! # @aric Sounds a lot like an apartment complex, except with friends. What happens when there is drama? Do we all go vote, reality TV style? # running functional tests of the code that I refactored yesterday. redesigning system to be object oriented so that I can code unit tests. # Reading about the Credit Cardholder’s Bill of rights as proposed: http://is.gd/1aKh - Pro Rata Payment allocations is GREAT for consumers. # on a related note, it would be easier to read legislation if it was presented like a diff to the current laws-it seems most would fit. # @RobertFischer nothing cures a caffeine withdrawl headache like caffeine. # headed home. Last day of work, feels NIIICE. # Getting ready to learn about MN beer and brewing at the Minneapolis library. #

@pfhyper I just finished S5 D4, but I have seen all of these before. Just rewatching so I can watch S6 and S7. # setting up identi.ca at home now. hooray # Finally hammered down a scheduled time for my Preliminary Orals # running CCleaner on my system. it cleared more than a gig from @magickalrealism’s computer. # Work today is going to be very boring if @cullect doesn’t come back online. # Crap. I forgot my Mt. Dew at home today, I will have to pay the extortioner’s fee for caffeine today. # @newcoventry @hgeorge Do Wikis count? They are by far the most useful tool I wish I had as a TA - forums and web pages all in one. # Doxygen users: @param or \param? # @newcoventry I’ve seen at some Google Talks (video) they have a webapp where people can submit q’s to the speaker. Useful in classroom? # While it’s nice to know what representatives like @keithellison are doing via tweets, I kindof wish that their twitter was more two-way. # @jasonbock The amount of math that I used to know on infinity + 1 > infinity is large, but the amount I have retained is small. # the #1 reason that I want to have unit tests for my project: refactoring with impunity # @jasonbock you can refactor w/o unit tests.. it’s just likely to break something. :(# @jasonbock I have tests - basic integration, functional.. but no unit tests. Refactoring is just cleaning up / restructuring code anyway. # running some tests. toggl tells me I have 1:20 left in the work day approx. # The woot-off at woot.com is still going on today. Hoping to score a new Roomba - ours died. # Twin Cities people: Anyone know of a good laundromat in NE? Recent move means old one is too far away. # tired of waiting for the woot-off to go to the next item, and traffic does not look too bad. heading home. #
