Student Grad Credits - Alberni District Secondary School
Students will have to go to their school with proof of accomplishment for obtaining any of the following credits. This is just a summary. More information can be obtained by checking: http://www.bced.gov.bc.ca/graduation/courseinfo/cid.pdf from pages 96 to 104 and checking with BC Athletics or the Coaches Association of BC at www.coaches.bc.ca. Adequate time for getting certified in coaching or officiating will be helpful to using these routes for grad credits.
Athlete 10 (4 credits)
Making it onto the zone 6 team for the BC Summer Games
Athlete 11 (4 credits)
Making it onto a provincial team or national team which competes inter-provincially, or at the Nationals, such as the Legion Nationals or Canadian Junior Nationals or Canadian Senior Nationals.
Athlete 12 (4 credits)
Making it onto a provincial team that competes at a National Championship at any level, or a National team which competes internationally, such as the above, or the Canada Summer Games.
Official 10 (2 credits)
Level 1 officiating as set out by Tom Dingle. There is a recording card which any athlete aged 14 and over can fill out to show that they have officiated for 2 hours in each of the 4 core areas, and show knowledge of the BC Athletics Officials Code of Conduct and Harassment Policy. You must have a minimum of 25 hours of officiating experience.
Official 11 (4 credits)
Must obtain level 2 technical officiating certification from BC Athletics.
Official 12 (4 credits)
must obtain level 3 technical officiating certification from BC Athletics.
Coaching 11 (4 credits)
NCCP Coaching Theory Part A (for ages 16 and over)
CPR “C”certification
SportsAid Certification (check www.sportmedbc.com )
70 hours of coaching experience
Coaching 12 (4 credits)
NCCP Coaching Level 1 Technical in Track and Field
CPR “C” certificate
SportsAid certification (www.sportmedbc.com)
Athletic Taping Certificate (www.sportmedbc.com)
80 hours of Coaching experience
