[UPDATE] Regarding AVINASH 2.0, My Main Blog

I just wanted to let my friends know that my main blog URL (http://www.avinash.ws) has been temporarily forwarded to this blog (blog.avinash.ws). Some of you may already have noticed the change but it's important to let you know.

Please note that AVINASH 2.0 contained most of my articles (some of 'em were useful for some people!). I'll try to bring the site back as soon as possible.

Thanks!

Kind regards,
- Avinash

The Ultimate Rejection Letter

Today I stumbled upon this:

Herbert A. Millington
Chair - Search Committee
412A Clarkson Hall, Whitson University
College Hill, MA 34109

Dear Professor Millington,

Thank you for your letter of March 16. After careful consideration, I
regret to inform you that I am unable to accept your refusal to offer me
an assistant professor position in your department.

This year I have been particularly fortunate in receiving an unusually
large number of rejection letters. With such a varied and promising field
of candidates, it is impossible for me to accept all refusals.

Despite Whitson's outstanding qualifications and previous experience in
rejecting applicants, I find that your rejection does not meet my needs at
this time. Therefore, I will assume the position of assistant professor
in your department this August. I look forward to seeing you then.

Best of luck in rejecting future applicants.

Sincerely,
Chris L. Jensen

Hey Bloggers! Wake Up And Fight

How many of you are prepared to face the Storm of 50 million computers?

Now a days, everybody seems to be running a blog, still there is such a huge lack of awareness about the Storm that's gathering. I think people will stop dreaming about iPhone and similar gadgets only when they realize that their machines have already become a part of the ever-growing Storm and is being used to attack on others.

Come on, if you're a blogger and didn' already know about the Storm worm, you seriously needs to stop dreaming about sexy gadgets. J/K. Well, jokes aside, everybody go ahead and write a blog post about this worm. Unless you unite, there is no chance you can beat this super-clever virus. Even if you blog about your kitchen, you should help the security experts defeat the creators of this virus. In other words, no matter who you are, what you write, you gotta stop this worm from becoming the king of the cyber world. Remember that each and every post will help.

Find more about this virus @ Wikipedia: Storm Worm

I know that the Wikipedia page is not enough so in case you need to do further research about this worm, Google is your friend.

Pathetic Digg Spammer

Though I'm not spending much time @ Digg now a days, today I decided to check out the Security/Upcoming section. After taking a look at this section, I was both angry and ashamed at the same time to see this person spamming Digg. A few snapshots to please your eyes:

Click on the thumbnails to see the full pictures. You may have realized why was I feeling ashamed if you visited his Digg profile. Unfortunately, this spammer turned out to be an Indian who calls himself a computer engineering student but sadly, nobody taught him any manners or ethics.

Now a days, I've seriously started thinking if what the Americans say about the Indians is really true. How can an Indian feel proud to be an Indian when most of the Indians spending their time online lack the sense of ethics? I know that too many Indians, who might be reading this post, may start arguing on this topic but if you have even a tiny bit of shame left, stop being a jerk/protecting a jerk because what you do online is affecting the whole Indian image.

If you continue doing these type of shits, a day will come when nobody will trust/respect an Indian.

Digg is not for me

Now I can't do anything when I realize that I've wasted all the hours that I spent @ Digg. I've visited Slashdot quite a few times but never tried to give attention to it. Over there @ Digg, I've to ignore 8 out of 10 articles even after enabling news filter.

Slashdot is completely different. Each and every article that I read seems to make sense. Perhaps my taste in technology has turned completely nerdy or I've been ignoring my own nerdy nature for years. Anyway, yesterday I became a Slashdot member (I registered an account about 2yrs ago but forgot the username). I'm subscribed to the Slashdot Newsletter and truly enjoying its quality. Also trying to spend as much time on the site as I can. Gotta learn a lot though 'cause Slashdot is not your average social news portal. Everything works differently.
