…. yeap, it was a lil over 36 hours I’ve been awake… woke up on Tuesday morning at 8am until now… survived thru one screwed up test…

And then yesterday night, managed to get myself a double-shot of espresso for my Vanilla Latte from Coffee Bean before I embarked with Jawad, Cheok Yeen and Andi Wu to scramble and finish the project system that was due for presentation today…

And we managed to finish off the presentation in style and kinda celebrated our success by having dinner at the nearby Pizza Hut… smiley

UPDATE: 37 hours and ticking… tick tock tick tock… smiley
UPDATE 2: 38 hours now… tired, but not sleepy… how ah? smiley

Let’s see how long I can survive on before I crash onto my bed… smiley

Here’s a pix of it just after preparation before cooking:

… are always considered slow and chunky in my opinion… it didn’t help with ICQ2Go was being sometimes clumsy and slow loading in my experience. At first I thought maybe ICQ2Go was just a badly coded Java applet… but I recalled that in my job with Panpac Media a couple of years back, they were using Oracle Financials and the interface is slow and clumsy as well…

That’s why I never considered Java for any of my serious software development… at least until today.

I was at a Caring Pharmacy outlet today buying some stuff. When I was queueing at the cashier’s counter, I noticed the Point of Sales (POS) system used at the counter. It was of a computer system attached to a barcode scanner and a cash register drawer (typical)… but the POS system was running on Java! Not just that it’s running on Java, it’s freaking fast as well!

I guess it’s about time I take Java serious for object-oriented programming (OOP) and software development… I’ll need to get myself some good reference books on this, to polish up the basics I learned while in college a couple of semesters back… any recommendations? Or better still, anyone got books to donate? smiley

… after a few days of major Internet access withdrawal symptoms, due to the reasons Sarah explained in the post below. I’ll blog more soon, especially after I finished retrieving all my mails and the correspondance overdue…

I felt so… ummm… disconnected for the past few days… smiley

… in the early morning of Monday, 22nd March 2004, the results of the 11th General Election held yesterday confirmed.

I guess the rakyat would rather face the wrath of Hell than to give PAS a chance to wreck the states from development… okay, short post, back to my course project work…

… when I joined the MyMesra forum contest a few days ago… I came upon the contest, thanks to Aiz’s blog here. *Dude, I’ll buy you coffee next time! smiley

It was 2 Hillstand Covered C2 tickets valid for the weekend worth RM 250 each. I managed to get my ex-colleague, Jasemine (who’s equally as fanatic as me, but she lacked the Internet access to join the contest) to collect the tickets today and she’s gonna go for it on the Saturday qualifying.

I don’t think I’ll be able to make it to the race on Sunday as I have the course project to finish by this weekend, so I’m really pitted against time with the project. Any of you readers out there want it for the Sunday raceday, e-mail me or call me ASAP ya… smiley

It so happened that my commentary in the forum was the best of them all. Although I’m a strong supporter of the McLaren team, but I tried to remain on the fence when writing the commentary. However, with a participant blatantly plagiarising her entry from a well-known F1 website, it’s just disgusting to see how some people would rather break the rules to win the tickets… Here I am, won the tickets, but I’m not going smiley

Now… if only there’s someone out there willing to pay me to write about F1… it’ll be great… smiley

Here’s what I wrote for the contest.. click Continue Reading to read it… pretty long smiley

… I guess by now you all know that I’ll have to move out from my Nilai pad (if you haven’t know, read here). Late last night, had a chat over mamak with Cheok Yeen and Andi about the feasibility of moving back to civilization Kuala Lumpur, my home sweet home.

With that, I’ll have to travel to college here in Nilai by the shuttle bus service from the Subang campus on a daily basis. It cost about RM 60 per month for the bus pass. On the positive side, I’ll have no more worries of laundry *thanks to Electrolux*, fooding around *there’s always mom’s home-cooked food*, decent Internet access *I’ve still got my streamyx ADSL at home in KL*.

Also, with moving back, I’ll get to see my gf more often than just once a week. I’ll have access to TV with Astro again *providing I manage to wrestle my dad out of the domination of the remote control* and more pool sessions *woopsie, I’m supposed to be spending thriftly, so pool’s out.

On the downside, I’ll have to wake up really early for early classes and may have to stick my butt around in college until the next bus schedule in the evening. Luckily, I don’t have to drive, and can sleep in the 1-hour drive from Subang campus to the Nilai one.

Since I’ll be staying around in campus until the evening bus schedule, I figured that I really need a laptop to survive my time there in the library… now, if you have yet to contribute to the Au Yong’s Educational iBook G4 Fund, please click here.

Also, I’m seriously thinking about selling my mountain bike I won here. If you’re interested, please e-mail me at auyongtc@theuseless.com with your serious offer.

Okay, enough of all these, I’m really looking forward to the Malaysian F1 Grand Prix and hopefully I can win the tix to go watch it live in Sepang smiley

Wish me luck! smiley

… okay, my landlord isn’t bad at all… he’s really nice, and have a lot of trust in me, the main tenant who signed the tenancy agreement for 2 years for this house I’m staying in Nilai…

But it’s the nicer my landlord treats me, the worse I feel now… with the agreement tied for 2 years (until end of this year), he’s got no way to increase my monthly rental of RM 500 (for a double-storey link house here). Now, I really learned a lesson about not being the main tenant… don’t ever put yourself in a position where your housemates can screw you, and thanks to Murphy’s Law, they will screw you… I know… I just got screwed… bad!

ET and Ehlant, both wanted out of this house after this semester ends (mid of April)… wanted to move to the hostel… these are the very same people who committed to me in the first place that triggered me to tie this agreement for 2 years… and now they’re backing out from me… especially ET, when he just told me this a couple of weeks back, without even properly notifying me earlier so that I can plan something…

Spoke to the landlord, feeling bad every other second, and he’s willing to let this agreement go after servicing my next month’s stay, with forfeiting the security deposit. Now I’ve gotta find a place to move, coz I sure ain’t gonna move to the hostel (it’s too late to apply anyway) coz can you believe it? I can’t even check POP3 mail accounts in the hostel connection! And all my e-mail accounts are on POP3!

Sigh… now really gotta start hunting for a place to stay… smiley
This sucks… this really sucks…. more sucky things to come, I’m sure…

… especially when it’s with a friend… Andi Wu came to my place after our classes to check out the new bicycle won yesterday (read the post just below for details). The week before, Andi’s own mountain bike was transported to my house here for storage as he can’t really fit it in his hostel room.

So today, he came, he admired, and then he tried to fix up his bike as the chain came loose and tyres’ flat. Tuned up some settings on my bike to optimum settings and then we were off to the nearby Petronas service station to pump up his bicycle.

We then cycled around the suburb neighbourhood of kampungs into the jungle clearing, and then when trying to cycle up the steep hill leading back to my house, we both failed miserably… hehe, rusted already… haven’t been cycling for a long long time… we rested for a while, and then headed off to the nearby mini-mart and bought some 7-Up Ice… new formula with an iced sensation, especially down the throat…. great soft drink I tell you! Must try!

Then we hang around my front yard and out of boredom, decided to pry open that old PC left on the street when one neighbour moved out just last week… it was an old system alright…

Andi had a lot of fun dismantling the CPU with my Black & Decker VersaPak battery-operated Screwdriver… hehe, boys with their toys… lol, he took out the 5.25inch floppy disk drive, the Trident ISA display card, the controller card with joy…

And then we discovered the hard drive - an IBM 342mb drive that was made 10 years ago! Gosh, compare that with the 250gb++ drives available today smiley

Then Andi started taking pix of me riding my bike around… oh yeah, all these pix were taken with Andi’s Sony Ericsson T610 cameraphone.

We cycled around the neighbourhood, this time up the other hilly area before sending Andi back to the hostel (in my car, of course!) smiley
