Voilà! Happy Thanksgiving!

Here is the  final product. I have to say…not bad for a first time Thanksgiving dinner made all by me! Like I said, I don’t like to cook but when I do venture out I have to say, “Dang I’m good!” I am thankful for my family and friends and for my dog Pablo. Peace & Love Y’all!

Turkey Phase 2

So now I’m “cooking”…pun intended. Here is my beautiful bird in the oven with the most fantastic invention since sliced bread…Reynold’s Turkey baking bags! 4 hrs from now I should have a fantastic turkey with stuffing made with gizzards, onions, hearts, celery, and apples…a little trick I learned from watching an old family friend cook one year. Stay tuned!

Turkey Phase 2

Turkey Phase 2

I am attempting to cook a whole Thanksgiving dinner for myself and a couple of friends. I will try and track the progress of the meal as it occurs. Here is a picture of all the goodies I bought to make a successful, yet delicious meal. Wish me luck and for you naysayers, yes I can cook, I just don’t LIKE to cook so I pretend I don’t know what I’m doing half the time to avoid the duty of cooking. Anyhoo, my homemaker gene comes in waves and this year it’s shown up again, hence the taking to cooking the fowl for my local friends. I’m pretty proud of myself, I bought the list and only called my sis Wheat to check if I forgot anything and I only forgot 2 minor ingredients so all is good. Feast here I come! Before TG Take 1

Weekend fun

"Man that food was great!"

Dinner was great! Mmmm!

Saturday I went out with my friend Jorge, who is visiting from New York City and used to live in Dallas…that’s how we met. He knew my friend Monica at the time and now we keep in touch. I visited him in NYC in 2002 and now finally he’s here to visit me here in Seattle. We went out to dinner on Saturday night and it also happened to be our mutual friend Jonathan’s daughter’s birthday. Here are some pix of our night at Metropolitan Grill. They are known for their steak but since I don’t eat them I ordered a Chicken Gorgonzola with linguini, covered in a light alfredo with tomato and some herbs. Yum! We had a time and then we took J’s daughter home so we adults could paint the town red.

Healthy Eating…

My favorite meal...a chicken burrito a la Tex-Mex...mmm!

My favorite meal...a chicken burrito a la Tex-Mex...mmm!

So MSN had a survey on the healthiest foods in fastfood restaurants today. Chipotle Mexican Grill came in number 2, just behind Noodles & Company. I generally have good instincts about good eatin’ so I’m not surprised that Chipotle is up there.  To celebrate, I went to the Chipotle down the street at Northgate Mall…it was SO good and it was packed, which means I wasn’t the only one who found out about the accolades that befell this awesome franchise. The fact of the matter is, Steve, founder of Chipotle, knew Texans would be the ones who would give good “word of mouth” about his food, if it was good, and it is! Here’s to more “green” buildings in Texas and elsewhere and here’s to more Chipotle for everyone!
