world mandate 2008 November 18, 2008

hi hi -

so the 2008 World Mandate conference came and it was amazing.  Jimmy Seibert - the Waco ACC pastor, Robert Herber - the San Diego church plant leader, and Patrice Tsague - a businessman who furthers the Kingdom through business, all came and spoke.  it was amazing:  I can sum it up this way:

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. Acts 1:8″

I’m excited to see what happens after the conference - witnessing to Jerusalem, Juedea, Samaria, to the ends of the earth!  Here we come Wheaton!

YOUTH HALLOWEEN BASH

So we had a youth party last night where the kiddos could come, dress up, eat smores and carve pumpkins together.  The goal of things like this is to develop greater community among the youth already within our section. To the left we have: Cleopatra, a lumber jack, a picnic, and a school girl.

It was so fun.  Thanks Leah & Russell VanDerMolen for letting us use your house.   And thanks Shannon for being an awesome community planner.  Here are some more pics!

Hosanna in the highest!!  We serve the Living God and He is mighty to save.

I just want to say I witnessed a miracle today.  So Austin shares Jesus w/ this high school girl - Alexis - today.  She is interested in more… so we make the switch.  Austin came to watch Halle and I walked over to the local skate park.

By the time I get there, she was hanging w/ 2 other girls.  I start talking, getting some background and two more girls walk up.  About this time, I start sharing my testimony.  The weird thing is they were totally dialed in!  All 5.  That’s called the Holy Spirit.  Then one more shows up.  So I share the gospel.  With 6 high school girls!  And I ask, have you ever made Jesus the Lord of your life.  All 6 said no!  Now these are girls who have been to church ya’ll!  Every week!

Anyway, so I ask who wants to do that.  3 raise their hand.  We started praying and 5 prayed out loud to receive Christ as their Lord and Saviour!  Amen!!!!  A new life group has been birthed out of the Holy Spirit.  Not only that, but I explained following Jesus and being His disciple… and they want it!  Praise God!

So, pray that these girls would be good soil.  That they would hear the word and IMMEDIATELY bear fruit.  And that they would become those who lead people to Jesus and see the gospel spread to the nations.

Thank you Lord for Alexis, Nichole, Heather, Jessica, Becca, and Caitlyn.

And its the first time I’ve lead anyone to Jesus in America!  And there is so much more. Yay!

nap anyone? September 27, 2008

ok.  so motherhood is great.  i love it… its a sanctifier for sure.

so any good advice on naps?  anyone?  halle is in the weird stage of going to 3 naps a day.  how do i do this?  i have no clue.  so she seems to be needing to make the switch because she is not napping very well at the 4 or so naps she takes right now.  she eats about 5-6 times a day and has some wake time and then naps at this point.

so basically, to anyone reading this how do i make the transition?  she only can stay awake for about 2 hours max, and her naps are only 1 1/2 hours at this point.  but if there are less naps, maybe it will be longer.

thanks for any input.  robyn

we are experiencing a phenomenon in wheaton, il.  according to the record books, wheaton, il is the most “churched” city in the nation w/ the most churches per capita than anywhere else.  but the weird thing we are finding is people who have never heard of jesus.  ever.  and apparently, wheaton is only about 20% reached with the gospel - which is much better than many places in our country and around the world.  but is that the best we can do?  i don’t believe God settles for 20%…. he’s after relationship with us all!

so… what’s the phenomenon?  people are getting saved! yay!  we just implemented a new tool to help explain the gospel clearly in about 2 min.  that’s all we may get w/ someone in the western hemisphere.  but it works.  we are giving people a chance to respond and they say YES.  they get to experience the love of God for them and they get to give it back out.

for example.  we went out to share Jesus after church yesterday.  we shared with some high schoolers at a local skate park.  once they heard how to have a relationship with God and that He wanted one with them, they were in!!  3 boys gave their life to Jesus yesterday - proclaiming Him the Lord over their lives and fully expecting to hear His voice.  pray with us that they get plugged in, discipled and become disciples.  God is good.

much love.  we are doing great here at the hoxie house.  we are getting settled after our move.  the basement did flood a pinch but we’re drying out and getting the basement put back together.  halle is awesome.  she has started standing when we hold her and she is just determined - nothing holds her back.  her new fave toy is a firefly that mimi got her.  austin and i are doing amazing as well.  the last 2-3 weeks we have been experiencing God’s Holy Spirit in new ways and we are more on fire to know God, be in His presence, and walk in obedience.  Right now we are trekking as a family through the Sermon on the Mount and how we can live that out as a family.  Get excited.

well till next time!!!
