THS IS A PRAISE THE LORD!!!

Last evening I spoke with my niece.
She related to me that her grand daughter's house had burned down.
Courtney had put the baby to bed. She then took her little boy into the bathroom to get him ready for bed. She had closed the door. The baby started to cry. Courtney thought she was just a little restless and would soon settle down. However she didn't so Courtney opened the bathroom door and saw her house in flames. She grabbed the baby, the little boy and called her dogs and they made it out of the house. Courtney was in her Pj's and barefoot. A neighbor waking by took her own shoes off and gave them to Courtney. Another neighbor gave her a coat to put on. According to my niece she was surrounded with loving caring people. Even though the house was destroyed all of their lives were saved. When I head the story I knew in my heart it was not a coincidence that the baby cried. It was God's way of getting them all out of the house before it was too late. We are all thankful that Courtney responded to the baby's cry.
I thought about how our Heavenly Father is so faithful to respond to us when we cry out to Him. And then I had to ask myself this question: "Do I respond to Him when He speaks to me?" I hope I can always be as sensitive to His voice as Courtney was to her baby.

OLD AGE CAN BE CLASSY!!!

Jim and Chrys VanEtten stopped by the other evening to show me their "new" vehicle. It was a 1949 Ford Pick Up. WOW! It was something to behold. I couldn't help but think that if my parents would have been rich they could have bought me one for my high school graduation. (Yes I graduated from Lincoln Park High School in 1949.) We had fun looking at the "old girl" and Jim even offered to let me drive her. I think he was hoping that I would refuse and I did.
When I looked at that truck I couldn't help think about the fact that no matter how hard we try aging is inevitable. It happens when we aren't even looking! Back in 1949 Jim's pick up truck looked modern and classy. Now it looks old and classy. AND THERE IT IS!! I know I can't avoid growing old but with the Lord's help I can grow old and still be "classy." I'm talking about being a first "class" Christian. My prayer is that I will always be renewed, refreshed, tuned up and ready to be of value in the Kingdom of God.
C...caring about other.
L...loving others.
A...Always ready to serve others.
S..Speaking kindly to others.
S..Sharing Jesus with others.
Thanks Jim and Chrys for the reminder that old age can still be first class.
PS If Jim ever offers to let me drive his truck again, I am going to do it!!!!

A FUN FILLED WEEK!

My daughter Debbie called me and told me that her husband John was preaching 8 nights at our A/G camps. Four nights in the northern part of the state and four in the southern. (Lost Valley at Gaylord and Fa-H0-Lo at Grass Lake.) She also told me that due to the fact of Bethany being in Driver's Training that they would not be able to accompany him. Then she told me that he needed family and if would be nice if I could arrange to attend the services. Nonie and her husband were going up north. They took me to Houghton Lake where we enjoyed a lovely dinner with my niece, her husband and my sister-in-law, Irene. (Pictured above) They are my husband's family and I love being with them. After dinner Roy and Nonie drove on to their cabin. Peg, Lyle and Irene entertained me in their lovely home, took me sight-seeing and then drove me up to Lost Valley Camp. My friend Sharon Fairall met us there and I stayed with her until Thursday. We had a lot of fun and we drove each night from her home in Alanson to the Camp Grounds. Then on Thursday morning we met John at Bob Evans, had a nice breakfast and he brought me back to Adrian. Fa-H0-Lo is driving distance from my home so I drove up each night for the services. We have so many deer in this area and my only concern was hitting a deer. I have two sets of deer whistles on my car. I am not sure whether they work or not. We did see deer every night coming from Grass Lake. One night there were four crossing the road. As we drove up, they were lined up across the road. They stopped, turned toward the car and looked at us. They were beautiful. However I think they really enjoyed the deer whistles. They did not run, they just stood and looked at us. So much for deer whistles!
John brought a few of his books to sell. Debbie only sent a few because she was sure not many people would want them. She doesn't know that her mother is an amazing sales woman. We sold out of one set the first night and sold all of the others before Friday.
John preached some outstanding anointed sermons. It was a fun filled week. I felt so refreshed both physically and spiritually. The joy of being with family and friends cannot be measured in dollars.
Pictures from top to bottom are: Me and the friendly bears at the new Pellston Airport; My grand-son Jonathan and his grandma at Fa-Ho-Lo Park Camp Ground; My son-in-law John Palmer and a young couple who are pastors at a small northern church; My beautiful young, almost 90 year old, sis-in-law Irene. She is my inspiration. The Sunday we arrived she had been a greeter and served communion in her church that morning; My friend Sharon Fairall and myself selling John's books; Me feeding the very gentle elk.
The Lord is so good. I am so glad that I was introduced to Him when I was four years old in a Sunday School classroom in River Rouge, Michigan. "I wouldn't trade anything for this wonderful journey that I have been on for the past 71 years."
