AN HISTORICAL WEEK

It is almost too difficult to describe what a wonderful, spiritual, exciting, thrilling week I had at our General Council in Indianapolis. However I must first thank some very special people. Had it not been for them I probably wouldn't have been able to attend. First of all my dear friend Helen Waggoner. She is the secretary to the former General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God, Tom Trask. By virtue of her position she was able to stay in the Mariott Hotel which is connected to the Convention Center. She had a beautiful room with two queen beds and very graciously shared the room with me. Secondly, her daughter and husband, Dave and Sheila Bowering, let me ride to Indianapolis with them. They had to be there for the National Fine Arts Festival which was convening at the same time as our General Council. Thank you Helen; Thank you Dave and Sheila; Thank you Ryan and Kyle for sharing your space in the van with me.
I was able to hear my grand daughter Bethany perform in a trio and in a choir. They received a Superior with Honors rating. And of course I feel so privileged to have been there for this event.
Then what a glorious experience to see both my son and son-in-law receive the honor of being elected to office. John is now the new General Secretary of the Assemblies of God and he and his family will be moving to Springfield, MO. Doug was elected the Executive Presbyter of the Great Lakes Region. I can tell you, as a mother, my heart was overflowing with gratefulness to the Lord.
The services were so great. It really was indescribable to watch 26,000 men, women, young people and boys and girls so focused on the Lord. The Missions Service was outstanding. I am convinced that we are going to be witnessing a great revival across America.
Then to top off all this beautiful week, Amy and Jeremy surprised their dad by driving in from Memphis, Tn. on Friday evening. I was able to have some time with them on Saturday before we left to come home. They are expecting a baby and of course great gram is thrilled. I am so thankful for family. I was able to be with Gail, Ashley and Kaylee. (The three beautiful women in Doug's life.) However...they are growing up far to fast for this gram. Jonathan was there and he stayed by my side and kept me going in the right direction. Bethany had to spend a lot of time with her FAF group but I was able to be with her also.
One of my great weakness (I guess it's a weakness) is being emotional. But this was an emotional week for me and I let the tears flow. When John was elected to his position, Debbie had to go to the platform and before that great crowd of people acknowledged me...I felt so honored. HOWEVER as I sat there I couldn't help but think back to the time that my husband went home to be with the Lord. My one concern was my children, at that time ages 9,14,18 and how could they survive without their earthly father...BUT GOD....He promised me to be a father to them. He has faithfully kept His promise. In spite of all my shortcomings and failures, "there hath not failed one word in all His promises." Hello Audrey,
I spent a little time in ministry with Doug in Iowa, and under John and Debbie's ministry as well, and reading just the last few lines of this post I wanted to commend you and remind you of what a tremendous job you did as a mother and christian in the raising of your children. You have truely honored God with you faith and your life and are a great blessing to many outside of your wonderful family s well. Thank you for your christianity and faithfulness. Be continually blessed.
