OLD AGE CAN BE CLASSY!!!

Jim and Chrys VanEtten stopped by the other evening to show me their "new" vehicle. It was a 1949 Ford Pick Up. WOW! It was something to behold. I couldn't help but think that if my parents would have been rich they could have bought me one for my high school graduation. (Yes I graduated from Lincoln Park High School in 1949.) We had fun looking at the "old girl" and Jim even offered to let me drive her. I think he was hoping that I would refuse and I did.
When I looked at that truck I couldn't help think about the fact that no matter how hard we try aging is inevitable. It happens when we aren't even looking! Back in 1949 Jim's pick up truck looked modern and classy. Now it looks old and classy. AND THERE IT IS!! I know I can't avoid growing old but with the Lord's help I can grow old and still be "classy." I'm talking about being a first "class" Christian. My prayer is that I will always be renewed, refreshed, tuned up and ready to be of value in the Kingdom of God.
C...caring about other.
L...loving others.
A...Always ready to serve others.
S..Speaking kindly to others.
S..Sharing Jesus with others.
Thanks Jim and Chrys for the reminder that old age can still be first class.
PS If Jim ever offers to let me drive his truck again, I am going to do it!!!!
