OPEN CALL FOR VIDEO COMPETITION - December 27, 2008
fondazione march presents the second edition of Où va la vidéo?, open call that wants to investigate which direction the artistic research of young videomakers is pursuing. The renewal of the competition wants to continue in observing those works directing towards new forms of experimentation, nowadays when this medium seems to be a consolidated and institutionalized technique. The Foundation intends to carry out the research path already started through the first edition of the competition; moreover we think that the institution itself must provide and act as debate platform, able to gather the suggestions rising from the works of young artists. INTERNATIONAL CALL FOR ARTIST PROPOSALS - December 15, 2008
Artists and groups of all cultural fields are invited to submit proposals for works/actions for Factory, an international exhibition taking place in two venues from May 2009. Factory exhibition focuses on production processes and their outcome in the framework of the art field, as well as on the social-economic structures that govern the contemporary world. The exhibition's theme is inspired by Andy Warhol's famous studio, which carried diverse functions during the 60s – a gathering place for the New York bohemia, a site in which both superstars and marginal characters dwelled, a place that shaped the public and artistic persona of Warhol and his companions while functioning as an artist's studio in the full sense of the word, stimulating artistic production in various media. Factory exhibition foregrounds the critical tension that resides in production processes of different art practices (video, sound, installation, performance, painting, photography etc.), between the live event, concrete artifacts and their display and consumption. We seek to induce the same tension in the friction and echoing formed between the exhibition's two venues, as the artistic activity in each of the sites will be shaped according to the unique characteristics of each space. Entry fee.

CALL FOR CONTEMPORARY PAINTING IDEAS - December 19, 2008
In painting, like most contemporary art media, one can find a great variety of techniques being practiced, images being created, and content being discussed. We can, however, identify specific major currents that resonate with our present conditions. With this in mind LAL seeks work that addresses any or all of the following phenomena: decoration density, fantastic figuration, and architectural anomie. All artists, age 18 and older. All categories and styles of painting will be considered. All work must have been created by the artist applying and since 2007. Not all works need to be for sale, but the Lexington Art League retains a 30% commission on the retail price of all works sold in the gallery. No entry fee.
