They Don’t Even Pretend Anymore
Meet the moderator for the Palin-Biden debate.
I wonder if they’ll run a promo for the book during the debate…

I’ve said several times that the Obama campaign needed to get out in front of the story concerning his past relationships because if they don’t, they run the risk of someone else setting the tone for them. All I know for sure is that they are questionable and unsettling.
Anyway, the setting of the tone has begun.
Admittedly I’m nearly always of the give them the benefit of the doubt and a chance to explain sort of persuasion. Not so sure there is an acceptable explanation here though, so they’ll either have to ignore it in the hopes it goes away, or confront it and attempt to paint it as a fraud.

The statement
I just wonder why not more has been made of the statement by Palin during the debate last night that “Maliki and the Talabaniâ€â€“this is a quote from the transcript–â€also in working with us are knowing again that we are getting closer and closer to the point of victory.†The Talibani obviously are our absolute enemy and have been since 9/11; Maliki, our central ally in Iraq. This to me is a tremendous blunder, revealing a very superficial familiarity with these sorts of terms.

The response
I think that “superficial†is absolutely the right word for the knowledge or the lack of knowledge Palin showed yesterday.

What she actually said…
We’ll know when we’re finished in Iraq when the Iraqi government can govern its people and when the Iraqi security forces can secure its people. And our commanders on the ground will tell us when those conditions have been met. And Maliki and Talabani also, in working with us, are knowing, again, that we’re getting closer and closer to that point, that victory that’s within sight.
Sarah Palin
See, Sarah Palin is stupid because she thought that when she was talking about Iraq, the talking heads would know that Talabani was the President of Iraq, not the taliban in Afghanistan. But in their world, she couldn’t possibly know that, so obviously she was talking about something else.
If you’re still confused, Neo-neocon has pictures to help.

As I’ve said before, whatever the relationship is between Obama and Ayers, someone should be looking into it so that it’s out there and over with before the election. I’d think it would be especially important if you wanted to avoid some sort of swift boating effort against Obama.
Unless of course there is more to it than that.
Anyway, it looks like it’s starting to get some coverage. I suspect that it’s mostly a bunch of nothing, but with the absurd investigations of Palin, it seems like there should at least be some sort of honest look into Obama.
More here, here, and from one of my favorites, Fausta.
