I heard Rush Limbaugh mention Hillary's connection to a Chicago social/political activist from the 60's on his show the other day. I had not heard the name of Saul Alinsky before, but checked out the linked article on his website, which gave a playbook synopsis of Alinsky's philosophy of gaining political power and how Clinton's current tactics in her fight against Obama compare. It's quite impressive.
This may be savvy cut-and-pasting by some political pundit, I thought. But what shocked me even more was an article I found from May 2007 that revealed a then-recently disclosed copy of Hillary's college thesis paper, titled "There is Only the Fight..., An Analysis of the Alinsky Model." (I was also stunned to learn that in her college years she was president of Wellesley College's Young Republicans!). So it seems Hillary has more in connection with Alinsky than I had known.
Interestingly, in her thesis she identifies a major problem with Alinsky's model is his intrinsic contribution. She states, "Alinsky is a born organizer who is not easily duplicated, but, in addition to his skill, he is a man of exceptional charm." What I find intriguing is that of all Bill Clinton's traits that are enumerated, his "charming" nature is among the most praised. It seems she has found a duplicate!
As an editorial note, I don't generally do much research/investigation of the Left because I feel there is sufficient info out there on other blogs/media. Additionally, I just get tired of all the scandal/drama. I post this info today only because I find it instructive in understanding the worldview of a significant archetype of the Left and a demonstrably successful political machine.
