Preaching Rule # 1 - It's about GOD!
The one rule I learned early in my hermeneutics and homiletics classes in Bible College, and was reiterated at Seminary, was that the Bible is about GOD. It is HIS book about HIS work in HIS creation. So one of the primary things a sermon text should focus on is GOD! Keith's blog has a great post that underscores and explains this well.
