SPRING SPECIAL PROJECTS UPDATE:

AGFSA/HILLCREST UNDER CONSTRUCTION

Two new residential homes for children are under construction on the AGFSA campus.  These new homes are approximately 5,000 square feet each and will house up to ten residents.  Each house contains eight bedrooms, seven bathrooms, two kitchens, a one bedroom apartment, a two bedroom apartment, two living areas, a laundry room, and a dining room. When finished, they will enable the ministries of Hillcrest and Highlands to house 84 children.  Most of the labor for these homes is being provided by volunteers from AG churches and U.S. MAPS/RV volunteer teams.

A big thank you goes to the following churches for their construction ministry on the AGFSA campus:
February: Family Worship Center, Sturgeon Bay, WI (26 in ministry group).

March: First AG, Fargo, ND (44 in ministry group); First AG, Peoria, IL (9 in ministry group); Aurora Christian Academy, Aurora, IL (150 in ministry group); King’s Highway AG, Sikeston, MO (15 in ministry group) and Love Ministries from Butterfield AG, Van Buren, AR (5 in ministry group).

April: Bentonville Ambassadors for Christ, Bentonville, AR (24 in ministry group); Family Worship Center, Kansas City, MO  (33 in ministry group) and Moss Point AG, Moss Point, MS (25 in ministry group).

Thank you for giving to AG Family Services! Your gift helps to ensure our mission to rescue children and infants from harm’s way continues. An investment today will yield results in the life of a child for years to come.

This year’s special project: Construction of a new barn.

Due to the deteriorated condition of the original barn and safety issues for our Hillcrest kids, we have purposed to build a new barn for the animals and kids. Our plans call for new barn construction, new fencing, lighting, and paths leading to the barn. Additional construction plans include: stalls and feed bins for 4-H cattle, our goats, and livestock.

AGFSA provides through Hillcrest Cottages a unique alternative model for children other than foster care.  Below gives you a brief look at the Hillcrest Cottage ministry to children.  Please browse our site and get acquainted with all of the AGFSA ministries.

Hillcrest Cottages, a safe place for children.

A home-like, Christ centered, non-institutional setting provides an atmosphere of normal family life.

Cottage parents receive training while sharing their love and faith with the children in their house.  It is their ministry to care for the needs of the child whether spiritual, physical or emotional and at the same time meeting the needs of the children and the family.

Relief Parents  rotate among the cottages providing assistance when needed and to ensure adequate time off for Cottage Parents.

Volunteer Grandparents are elders who live on site and proved the inter-generational component to the Hillcrest Cottage model. As Hillcrest grandparents they are available to spare individual workers, teach life skills classes to the children, share special skills, serve as mentors and proved support where it is needed.

Casewokers act to assess the needs of every child upon entry.  They address the needs of every child in order to implement services and ministry that produces a whole child.  High priority is given to counseling for such issues as abandonment, lack of attachment, abuse or neglect.
