Adventurers from the past include men like Christopher Columbus, who sailed west into uncharted waters to get to India and discovered the American continents; Nicolaus Copernicus, who developed a new theory about the arrangement of our universe; and Jedidiah Strong Smith, who explored the wilds of America's western frontier. These are men who inspire us all to probe and expand our horizons.

As Adventure Rangers, sixth-, seventh-, and eighth-grade young men have the chance to do as these men. A Ranger is one who explores new frontiers, so the Adventure Ranger will explore new areas as he learns the history of Royal Rangers and takes advantage of opportunities for the future.

As an Adventure Ranger, a young man will experience growth in four ways:

[image] Physically: Their bodies will grow strong through proper exercise and diet.
[image] Spiritually: Their spirits will grow strong through prayer, Bible study and witnessing.
[image] Mentally: Their minds will grow strong by reading, studying, and memorizing Scripture passages.
[image] Socially: Their relationships with people will grow strong by learning how to treat them.

Requirements to Become an Adventure Ranger
If the young man was promoted from Discovery Rangers into Adventure Rangers, he should have completed the necessary recruit requirements as one of his last tasks as a Discovery Ranger. The young man's Discovery Rangers records or Handbook will contain the information verifying that he has completed the recruit requirements.

If the boy is joining Royal Rangers for the first time as an Adventure Ranger, he will need to complete the following recruit steps:

Be in at least sixth grade Complete the Royal Ranger Charter form Complete the outpost medical information and parents' medical waiver Recite the pledge to the United States flag Recite the pledge to the Christian flag Recite the Royal Ranger Pledge Recite the meaning of the four red points of the Royal Ranger Emblem Recite the meaning of the four gold points of the Royal Ranger Emblem Recite the meaning of the eight blue points of the Royal Ranger Emblem Recite the Royal Ranger Motto With the boy's parents or guardian, complete the exercises in the pamphlet Preventing Child and Substance Abuse: A Parent's Guide. (Included with the Adventure Rangers Handbook.) Participate in a Recruit Interview
